I am sure there are plenty of people that never receive compliments. I'd guess they'd take any that came their way and be grateful.
I resemble that remark...lol |

Its nice to get compliments, but when its comin from a complete stranger who knows nothin about u, then its obvious to me they have lust on their minds cos all they know about u is how u look.

Now I wonder how men take compliments, since women "don't appreciate them." If someone compliments a man, does he think she's interested, or just being nice? If the compliment comes without pretense I take it at face value, and without thinking that it means she's interested. However I've been told that at times these women were actually hitting on me and I was oblivious to it. I guess they need a hammer. |

Yeah, I guess it depends on what they say, there's a difference in "nice pics" and "nice azz" ![]() |

I really don't classify a random unknown person emailing me calling sexy or hot as a compliment.
I don't have an easy time excepting compliments from people but I try to do so gracefully. I appreciate them and I give compliments when I feel they are deserved. But I'd rather a friend give me a compliment than someone who doesn't know anything about me because I agree with the OP, usually it's the pervs who do that. (Notice, I said usually!) |

Depends on the compliment and how it's given. For example:
"I think you're pretty cool, and pretty, and I'd like to get to know you." is a nice compliment. "OMG UR SOOOO HAWT I WANT YOU!" Is not. ![]() |

A compliment in a first email is fine and I'll say thanks. However, lots of compliments from someone who doesn't know me seem very insincere.

Once in a a great while......I will email someone randomly because I think something they said or did deserves a compliment. I would hope that even if I didn't qualify my statements, they would realize that it is exactly that, a compliment.
I believe in giving credit where credit is due, and if someone did or said something that is outstanding to you, they should know it! That said, I have been very upfront with someone here about the fact I was interested in them....and got let down gently. It hurt, but didn't take long to recover from. That was way different from just a compliment. It was a fact of "I'm interested in you". I take compliments given to me at face value, unless they are so outrageously insincere or blatantly a lie. Those I just ignore. |
