I think it is all how the compliment is delivered.

I'm an excellent driver. It's hard for people to know that or compliment me on it in an initial e-mail though....

Now I wonder how men take compliments, since women "don't appreciate them." If someone compliments a man, does he think she's interested, or just being nice? Some women...some women don't like them, I'm sure there are some women that do appreciate getting them just as well. But as par the OP...there are some that see them as us 'just trying to get in their pants'.

The only thing I ever get complimented on is my writing. Seems a rather obtuse lead-in towards anything more "involved," so I just take it as it's given.

Now I wonder how men take compliments, since women "don't appreciate them." If someone compliments a man, does he think she's interested, or just being nice? Some women...some women don't like them, I'm sure there are some women that do appreciate getting them just as well. But as par the OP...there are some that see them as us 'just trying to get in their pants'. Maybe they get them so much, they've become used to it and they expect them as their just due? Some people are arrogant like that. Just a thought.

I generally find compliments in an initial email insincere. They usually consist of you're 'hot', 'sexy' or 'cute'. Those ones I usually play with. I will ask them if they have actually read my profile. They are usually the ones the turn around really quickly and call names. I had one guy admit that he didn't read my profile. I told him to read the whole thing and then decide if he should be emailing me! He never emailed, but did appear that he at least clicked on my profile. Agreed! Besides it says i am taken in my profile. So to get a compliment saying " You arte irrisitable" is just trouble. Cant take that serious at all. But it does all depend on the compliment.

Is it just me or is your intial reaction when someone leaves you a compliment in your email that they just wanna get in your pants? I compliment people that deserve it, and am always sincere about it. I don't have other motives to complimenting people. If we talk after the compliment then I see where it could go, but I don't just compliment to get into someones pants.

I try to take all compliments with grace. They usually make me blush, but I still do my best to accept and take it as being genuine.

I give them when they are deserved and tend to take them with humility and graciousness. I am sure there are plenty of people that never receive compliments. I'd guess they'd take any that came their way and be grateful.
