Do people intentionally try for a long term relationship, or is it something that just happens? Does it develop over time, from a sexual encounter to something more? Why do people post "long term relationship"? Do they mean anything longer than just one night?

Everyone wants something different and long term means different things to different people. I'm not sure anyone can sum this up for you. flowerforyou

My darlin, it just depends on how honest and what each person wants out of a relationship. Guys tend to be wham bam ty mam, while most women I meet anyhow are about long term commitment.

well, in accounting terms, long term usually means more than one year, short term (current) usually means less than one year...so i suppose people who stay with each other for more than a year, planned or not, may be considered long term

I don't think I could ever do that. I am a sexual creature by nature, I have to have sex!!

Honestly the wham bam ty ma'am attack seems legit, but me personally, I don't like having my time wasted, and I don't want to waste another persons time. Which is why I only look long term. It's a little compromise I made with myself a long time ago.

Why do you categorize (most men )? Speak for yourself please. I hate these generalizations .To answer the op.People are different and looking for different things .You ca'nt pigeon hole everyone into the same place .When people meet they will have a better understandeing of where they want to take a relationship.

That is my question exactly, then why post "long term relationship" There must be a reason for it? Is it wishful thinking? Just posting it because they think that is what women want to hear?

Well maybe sometimes yes but I beleive that there are those that from the start want a long term relationship and thats it .There are many who are codependant .But if people were honest it's all about the meeting and to see if personalities gel and all that other important stuff.

I agree. That is the way I feel. I just can't put out the long term thing and think everything will turn out that way.

To some people two days is long term. To others a lifetime is not long enough.
