hello keith here,i have a question for all the people on mingle, who are living in the states.i have a twin brother"paul",who broke his back 20 years ago on a fairground ride.he is now a paraplegic, paralyzed from the waist down"cut spinal cord". and we were both wondering how much it would cost him for health care in the states,if we were to move to america.so i would be very greatfull if anybody from america"or knows a fellow wheelchair user" to tell us how much it would cost.....keith

I think the problem you may run into with insurance is pre-existing conditions. and I would imagine the cost of insurance would be pretty high.
I'm very sorry to hear about your brother |

USA health care is a shambles. I do not know the numbers, but I can pretty much guarantee the cost of health care here is the highest in the world.

Your best bet for healthcare would be Holland or France....or even Canada.

good question
health care without insurance is prohibitely expensive. There is govt healthcare (Medicare) but I doubt they would allow you to come into the country with the expectation of using that I was turned back at the Canadian Border because I had insufficient healthcare insurance. It would be a shame to come all the way here and have that happen. I would check with the US Consulate for the most up to date info |

Thank goodness we aren't socialized (yet). But I hear England's just as bad. Do you have relatives already here?

The US healthcare system sucks. Only people with money can get the care they need.

Healthcare here in the US is pretty much controlled by the insurance companies and being that I work for a doctor and have to deal with the insurance companies you're better off not coming here. And being that you are not a citizen I don't know how that would affect you even getting insurance to be honest. Patient care is not what it once was being that the insurance companies control what you can and cannot have done.. not the doctors.

Medicaid is health care "aid" for the very poor. |
