I am not talking about diplomas or collegiate degrees......

What have you taught?

What has someone taught you?

This is the stuff that cannot be learned in books....

Me Personally, I have taught several art and "Dinosaur Week" classes for the local kids...(they love that sh*t)

I spent 8 years of my life teaching women's self-defence...(my Father's Kyokushinkai school mandated it.....) I learned so much about the nature of women....yet, I am too dense to learn from it....

The thing of it is...

through out all my stupidity...I have had some one teach me something...I have accidentally helped people (When they stand before God...if they just blame me.....They will be fine.)

What is the thing you learned that you would never learn in school?

Among other things, I home schooled my son from grades 8-11, and had him graduate early, and now I am doing the same with my younger daughter-grade 8.

So many of "life's" little lessons, some harder than others, but learned from all of them. flowerforyou

I've taught some music-related stuff to some people, but not in an official capacity. One of the people I've taught was Terrence Howard (of "Iron Man"- this was on a sit-com called "Sparks" a little over a decade ago), who wanted some help with some scales and stuff. Not only did I plunk out some notes on his acoustic guitar, but I also wrote out some charts for him to use as future reference.

I've also taught a couple of high school kids how to build some set pieces, too.

I am a fitness trainer and group exercise instructor. 10 years ago we call it being an aerobics teacher! tongue2 I am also a master presenter for the American Council on Exercise: I teach continuing education classes to all of the certified instructors.

At the end of the day, I am a teacher, but I feel like a mentor or a life coach more than a 'teacher'.

In turn, I have learned A LOT about human nature, and not everything is always black and white. flowerforyou

I really enjoy my career; it's not work.

My niece and I were discussing "stickers"....like the ones she has on her school folders, bumper stickers, and such.

She said, "ya know what uncle Joel, I hate.....well I don't like the word hate.....but I really dislike that sticker that says...

"Mean People Suck"!

ohwell "Mean people don't suck.......They are just HURT"!

surprised

tears I wept.

I am a teacher as a profession, but I have found that truly great teaching goes beyond the classroom. It's something that comes when you get to know another, whether it's a student, a friend, or anyone else you might reach out to and have an impact on their life. I congratulate anyone on here who has taken that step and been that someone for others! flowerforyou

I generally set the bad example.

Those who can, do-those who can do more, teach.
