Topic: What's so bad about guns?

Guns arn't so bad. In some cases they save the good guy. It's the one behind the gun that makes all the diffrence. And for some reason guns seem to be a turn off to women. Why? I think the amount of women who likes guns are the same as the amount who plays video games: 0! So what I'm asking now is what's so bad about guns & games? Around me it's not just women who hate guns and video games but also old people. Now days it's not just one dot chaseing the other but now in these games you actually have to think. Games like Tomb Raider, Tetris even Zelda.

I am a hunter and I know how to respect guns. What I loath is the idiots that own guns and have no regard that the gun is a weapon. If the owner has no clue how to handle the weapon, then they have no reason owning a piece.

People, not guns, kill. Guns are just the weapon of choice. Remember the teenagers who killed a homeless man? Their weapon of choice was a baseball bat if I remember correctly. Does that mean baseball bats are evil? Some people use knives to kill. Some use their bare hands. A gun is merely a tool. The person wielding it is either good or evil. I cherish the privilege to own a gun and have had training in using one. There'll be a fight when someone decides I can't arm myself. If you want to stop violence, you stop it in the heart of the violent people--not by removing my right to protect myself.

As far as video games, IMO, they're for children. Any mature man I would date would have far better things to do with his time than sit around for hours playing Tomb Raider or whatever. But that's just my opinion, which probably isn't worth a penny, but I'm charging you a full dime anyway.

Owning a gun because hunting or shooting is a hobby or a trade is one thing, owning a gun just for the sake of it, is another. Quite unnecessary in my opinion.

But then i understand that i don't understand the gun culture in the US.

The guns dont kill people, people kill people argument is quite weak, i feel. Its quite difficult to kill somebody by accident with a knife or a baseball bat, for example. Yes you can own a gun and you can be responsible and no harm will come to anybody. But when half an entire population own guns, there will always be mistakes, and people will end up dead.

If a person chooses to own many guns...that's their right & choice...but I don't have to be around them...that's MY choice. I guess when I had a 357 Mag put to my forehead was when I came to that conclusion...

Well at least I got a few people agreeing with me on guns. But I like guns in general. Real guns, paintball guns, pellet guns, bb guns n' all. Yeah guns have probably took more lives than they saved but as far as gun crime they should do a eye for a eye thing. If someone shoots someone in the leg then the person person who pulled the trigger get's shot in the same leg. If someone gets shoot in the eye than the person who pulled the trigger gets shot in the same eye. Or here's a solution: take REAL guns out of everybody's hands even the police and replace them with bb guns. BB guns are still dangerous but not as leathal. Alright, what about video games. So far it's 1 dislike and 0 likes.

hehehehehehe

Between me, my dad, my mom my bro and my sis....we probably have about 150 firearms between us.

Better to have one and not need it...than need one and not have it...

I do understand your point Dan....it is simply a cultural difference..

I'm with ya on the gun thing. I love my right to have one and am currently in danger of losing it because I got busted with some weed at home. My guns were safely hidden and unloaded in my closet, but I still get sharged with Posession of Firearms During the Commission of a Felony. Stupid stupid.

Anyway, I gotta agree with Dan on the 'guns don't kill, people kill' being a weak argument. Guns do not belong in the hands or irresponsible people or anyone who view them as a killing tool. Mine are simply toys (big boy toys, but still toys). I would never shoot a living thing with them nor give one to someone I think might.

And watching a bullet rip through an old cell phone...there's nothing like it! It's more fun than video games. My PS3 is my second favorite toy after my guns. If only I could find a woman who could afford enough ammo and come play some video games after we run out.

I gotta echo my mans words here, my feelings exactly.

Go 'head!! That's what I'm talking about. I ain't ****ing with your family I just got a pellet gun and a half broke bb gun. It's just something about the sight of a gun that excites me. Ever since I was little I liked guns. Like A fetish on crack.

That's what i'm saying. I'm glad to see people are finally agreeing with me. Guns and video games make like much more worth living. And a PS3 huh? Damn you must got some deep pockets. I wanted to buy a PS3 but the cheapest one I found is $350. I got a XBox 360 for $250. That was damageing enough. And the last words you said is my ideal woman. A woman to got to the shooting range with and then go home and play street fighter with then take eachothers cloths off and tear eachother up!! Then have a nice meal. Shoot, Play, **** & Eat.

That would make a little more sense if you owned ONE gun! lol.

For me, it is highly unlikely that i will ever need a gun, i dont know much about where you live, but is it really likely that you would ever need one?

They are two great ways to kill downtime. I mkight consider my life more boring without them. I'm sure the guys that invented the first game systems were awarded something similar to the nobel prize, and deservingly so. I was saving up for another motorcycle when I bought my PS3. Then my income was drastically reduced so I fiugured I'd put my savings into a PS3 to occupy my time while getting the rest of the bike money. That's the only way I could afford it, and don't regret it either. It's well worth the extra $100 for the PS3 over the 360. Just gotta keep youself from spending the $250 while coming up with the $400. It wasn't easy. I gotta throw one more thing into your perfect day thing there: smoking a fatty after supper and before bed.

You folks that want to outlaw guns need to read up on your history of what happened in the countries that disarmed their citizens and you don't have to go back too many years either.
Also, how many cars kill people? Yet just about any moron can own one and these days, it's even easier to get a driver's license now than it was in 67. Why is it that way today? And with the way this country is going, owning gold when the crap hits the fan will only serve well in making reloads.....and with our president bowing to the king of Saudi...what's next?? No wonder the gun shows are packed full. I've been around guns all my life and was taught gun safety at a very early age and have had my permit for several years. It's all about education but it seems there's not much of that going around these days. Someone mentioned using a knife for defense. It's a lot easier to duck a knife than it is to duck a bullet...and when guns are outlawed, only the goberment and outlaws will have them. And if you ever do have to use a gun for defense, use 'safe' ammo. Round points can go through the body and possibly strike someone nearby that's innocent. Hollow points will not do that.
Also, I'm not a video game player. To me they are a waste of time...

I pointed mine at one person years ago and was about to empty it on him but the situation quickly defused when he saw it so that saved me a ton of grief in the long run. Didn't know the ahole from Adam but all I knew is that he put our lives in danger (wife and I) and I was about to take us out of danger. Another instance was from my druggie son in law. He was giving me a bunch of crap. I was sitting in my car and he was at the driver's window. Window was up and he was pounding on it wanting me to open up. I was about to open up with something else and was only waiting for him to break the glass but when he heard me chamber a round, he very quickly left. He never saw the gun since it was dark and my windows are tinted plus it was in my lap down low. I'm surprised my daughter hasn't shot him yet. Oh ya, he called the cops on me but it didn't take long for the cops to go back to him once they found out what was going on lol. He has a long record and is now in the TDC. He's the main reason that I decided to get my permit to carry. And the night this all happened...he had just burned down his own house for the insurance money.

I think these days, the right to own guns is vital. You never know when someone may break into your house with the intent to kill and steal. And America is not invincible to terrorists. You never know when some country may invade and attack. Should that happen, you may need to defend yourself, and probably a knife or baseball bat won't be much help. At least with a gun, you have a fighting chance. I have no intention of being taken captive by an American terrorist or an International one.

Forgive me, but i think you are a little paranoid. The US has been attacked twice in the last 60 odd years, Pearl Harbour and 9/11. The chance that you will be required to fight off international terrorists is about the same as my head exploding in the next 30 seconds.

I donno...from my perspective...there is a certain comfort in the knowledge that just on the off hand chance the locals around here had to defend ourselves...we could. The U.S. has one militia force that no other country on Earth has.....rednecks and gang bangers...

I love my silenced .308 (completely hand made)

The retical is accurate to about 800yds.

But, I really like the silenced .22 I got for Christmas too!

Please don't misunderstand...I agree that not everyone has any business with fire arms...(There are plenty of people I wouldn't trust with a nerf ball)

For myself...I was raised to respect guns.

Any family gathering or holiday....we shoot.

This is what i'm talking about. I diden't know thare were so many people who like guns as much as me. (probably even more). But those sniper rifles are a ***** in real war. (I woulden't know from experience but I can already tell). But besides guns does anybody like grenades, missles, bombs, tanks & nuclear warheads? Firepower is just infactuating to me! But want I really want to see is women who like these kind of things. Those kind of women seem scarce.
