First, you really have to clarify devout. If you just mean someone who goes to whatever their religious temple is, on the days they are supposed to go, then I would give it a try, as long as they are open-minded, and that we would be able to have discussions on religion, while leaving our own feelings out of it, and also as long as they would respect my lack of beliefs, instead of trying to convert me, i would not have a problem, with at least trying.
If, by devout, you mean the whole nine yards, going to church, believing the bible word-for-word, trying to convert all non-believers, while reminding them they are going to hell, there is no way I would even try to talk to that person.

For me it tends to come down to how beliefs are formed.

Also the capability to say, "I don't know".

Devout Religious folk tends to teach that, "I don't know" is not really a credible answer, god exists at the gaps ect.

I am far to inquisitive to settle for that, and in a conversation it shows when one participant is not rigorous in their thought processes.

This tends to translate into incompatibility (for me).

If people choose to delude themselves, that's their choice. But, happy-go-lucky bible thumpers are not for me. I cuss like a sailor, drink, smoke, listen to metal, and do lots of things that would probably make said spiritual person want to stab themselves instead of be with me, but, the feeling is mutual, so, lol.

As it stands right now, I don't date. But if I did, I would not date a devout religious believer.

....unless he was incredibly sexy, and good looking, and rich, and could fly me to another country for lunch, and I was living under an assumed identity...... and I would only date him for a week tops.

(I know, I know it sounds heartless and shallow, but a good time was had by both of us. )
