It came up in a discussion recently with friends of mine about unemployment and the figures being offered to us by the government.

What came up was the government % vs. what the REAL % of Employed vs Unemployed people was.

Unemployment figures are generated solely off of information provided by the Unemployment offices also called ECC. But does this reflect the ACTUAL number of Unemployed by percentage? HELL NO!

Looking back on it the figures do not take into account, disabled/ medically disabled, WELFARE RECIPIENTS who for the most part ARE unemployed, those forced to remain at home caring for elderly or children, and Homeless. When these factors are added in the Unemployment figures make a Astonishing leap.

In light of this a more acute problem presents itself and one the government does not like seeing the whole picture!

Disability is being treated like a golden lottery by people and is being abused by both health care and many others getting on these programs. Welfare is being milked by people just going through the moves to get free money. The Unemployment offices can only do so much.

Does this play into the whole recession vs. depression argument? Heck yes it does.

In a side note also reflect that a depression is based on a 20% loss of Domestic GNP. If you tabulate the loss of GNP over the last ten years it seems that there has been a VERY significant loss to domestic GNP. Enough so that amortized over time since the 80s begins to take on more sinister proportions!

So, recession or depression? With the course Obama is setting us on I have a feeling we will all find out here real soon.

I would love to be an optimist but all I see is dark clouds and frowning bad guys on the weather map.

Considering that half of this post was offensive and judgemental and unnecessarily hateful and should be disgarded for the prejudice on it.

I will agree that the unemployment figures are not accurate. They do not figure those who have ran out of unemployment benefits in this figure. As for the disabled they are not a part of this total because they are not employable and are not vying for any jobs. Welfare recipients under the new rules are either doing volunteer work or they are in school preparing to begin job search soon so that figure is semi right.

So I guess, I don't like the delivery but the end result is the same.

your feelings have no bearing on the truth, and each speak it's truth and what itself live by...

if you think you shall recieve some validation from me, for speaking what is absolute poison to anything that believe, then you are mistaken...

You know Winx, I am not stupid like some. I can see you playing around.

You keep insisting on the "purpose" of the robbery, while the discussion is about the fact that it is, nevertheless, an armed robbery.

"The End Does Not Justify The Means", have you ever heard this phrase?

The fact that you seem to insist on just the opposite, that "the good ends" of this armed robbery, somehow justifies "the means", i.e. the robbery itself, kind of disqualifies you to be my judge on morality, don't you think?

All those characters you have mentioned, have their weight when something is done voluntarily.

But, let me guess, you're going to conveniently miss this point (again), and keep talking about morals of the robbery, right?

Sorry, not my kind of fun...

May-be when you learn to capitalize you sentences, make them complete, with some point. Then...

What else can I do for you?

Or, may-be you want to have some fun? Well, you know, I am nogames.

Come tell me what you want to tell. I am all ears. (If you know what I mean). Like "dancing, walking the walk... you know).

this is not an intellectual debate.

this is your energy against mine, and sorry man, you lose, as you face nothing but yourself in the mirror each day, and blame each action of yourself, on somebody else...

no more hurting little kids any more there big boy...

those day's are past my friend, as three days time, bring down the house of cards of your own blame, that you have run from for so long now, and the weight shall crush down upon your shoulder's, and you will see what was real, and what was not real.

The portion of the new stimulus which will be used for welfare is 1.1%.

For Wall Street financial bailouts-19.7%

Why pick on the disabled and those forced to collect welfare, just because a few abuse it?

Nogames are you talking about having to pay taxes that help the poor etc as forced robbery? If you are, here is what I am wondering.

Do you think that with all the people in our country now in the year 2009, that if we had it as a voluntary thing that most would contribute? I don't, I think there are millions of people that would just say hey let the suckers pay. None of use humans are getting out of this life alive, many of us will leave this world never having exerienced much of a life at all, having been disabled from birth ect..

Why would you want to live in a world where you don't share the burden if that is what you might want to call it for those who are so much less fortunate than others?

I would find it very difficult to be wealty and to know that so many people in the world won't see even a fraction of what I might get out of life. And I mean just in the basics.. fine health care, a warm clean bed..

Am I a sap? Or am I human that doesn't particularly like living with so many humans that have so little respect and love for other humans?

If I missed the point completely let me know, I am really tired now so I might be missing something.

boo2u,

The point here is the age old debate which is about morality, essentially. Forget about the taxation, for a moment, as it is only an application of a moral principle.

It is summed by a well known maxim as : "The End Does Not Justify The Means".

Everyone, has to give an answer to this, before one can continue on discussing what is in practice an application of this principle or exactly the opposite of it.

Let me give you an example. Suppose there are 3 people, 2 of those only have one kidney each. The third one has two healthy kidneys. These kidneys are dying, and need replacement soon. Now, would it be OK for us, to kill a perfectly healthy person, and take his two kidneys, so that we can have two persons alive, instead of one, if we did not?

Of course, the third person may have offered his kidneys voluntarily. And it then would be none of our business, but up to those being the recipients, to decide, if a price is too high or not.

But we are not discussing the voluntary here. We're trying to find out if we should guide our forceful actions by a principle, and if yes then what would it be?

This is a very important question, the answer to which changes everything.

For myself, I have answered NO. Meaning that for me, the ends do not justify the means. What is your answer?

Holy crapoli, you had to give me this one this late. Ack!!

Ok right off the top of my head, If I was one of the ones with one kidney, no, I could absolutely not ask that one with two good kidneys die to save me. **** this is a very difficult situation here. Let me think some more about this... no wait. No my answer is not, wouldn't be right, but not sure what or how that applys to all this.. damn it's late and my brain is frying as I type..
