I care not for the company of men or the trappings of an earthly life that some seem to hope heaven holds as a reward.

I do not wish for any reward other than this small request.

I hope to go to the woods with my dog at my side. I promised him...we have bunnies to hunt and cool nights under the stars beside the fire still ahead of us. He waits for me I know.

This quote says so much. I am in tears now...

A good dog never dies. He always stays. He walks besides you on crisp autumn days when frost is on the fields and winter's drawing near. His head is within our hand in his old way.

"We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals. Remote from universal nature and living by complicated artifice, man in civilization surveys the creature through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate for having taken form so far below ourselves.

And therein do we err.

For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with the extension of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings: they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth."

So after all us kids move out of the house, the family dog becomes my Mom's favorite. She loved that dog and pampered it accordingly.
And when they had to but her to sleep, my mother held her. She was buried in a favorite spot on the property, wrapped in a blanket, and wearing a gold necklace that my mother gave her. "We can't have her showing up in heaven looking common, like every other dog" was my mother's thinking.

She had to explain to her 4 yr old grandson(who will be 30 next wk)what had happened.

He asked.......

"Gramma'did you really love Melissa Jane???? (thats the dog)
"Yes Christoper, I loved that dog, she was my best friend"
"Well then why did you stick her in that hole in the ground and throw dirt at her????"

True story.

I believe dogs go to heaven or where ever we all end up. They are sentient creatures and humans in a sense are the wards of all creatures on earth, depending on which religion you follow. In my religion, they lives are just as sacred as humans. All life is sacred in my opinion and the lord loves all his creations.

Since animals have emotions ( which are a part of the soulish area ) ,

that must mean that animals therefore have souls.

Also...read revelations...about the lion lying down with the lamb.....

that will be the time, when there will be a new heaven and a new earth....

when Jesus will come back with his redeemed.... to establish His kingdom....on the new earth...forever and ever and ever....

that will be when there where there will be no more sin....and no more night....and no more death..but perfect peace on earth..as it was in the beginning..before the fall.

And that will be, when all animals will dwell peacefully with mankind on earth once more.

I have heard that some religions don't believe animals go to heaven when they die, because they don't possess a soul. Personally, I think it's a bunch of b.s., and animals are far more innocent than humans. Is that why? Because they are innocent in nature, and don't sin...therefore they are not allowed to be with God? I thought being free from sin would be a shoe in to the pearly gates.

Thoughts please.

Isaiah Chapter 11
(From The Hebrew Bible in English)

6 And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the basilisk's den.

9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

Sounds to me like there will be animals there...

Please take note:

it says that THE EARTH will be full of knowledge. Neither humans or animals go to Heaven. The Kingdom will be right here on Earth.

Saved mankind goes to Heaven.......

but we don't forever REMAIN in heaven.....

one day God's redeeemed will RETURN with Him...BACK to the NEW EARTH .....

where Jesus will establish His kingdom ....and where we will reign and rule with Him forever.

The Word of God is quite interesting....

Read the Word.....and learn.

Most dogs I have met act like there IN heaven.

What would a dog need to worry about human rituals and beliefs.

Question: Do animals have a soul?

Answer: As a rule, the complete question involves concern about animals, especially pets, being in heaven.

The original creation. When we visit the original creation, we discover a number of truths. One apparent truth is the uniqueness of man compared to the lower animal creation. Only to man was it said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…." (Gen. 1: 26). Animals are next mentioned in the verse, but from the standpoint of their subservience to man.

The fate of man and animals. The wise man had much to say regarding man, his birth, life, and destiny. He wrote, "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was; and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it" (Eccl. 12: 7). Earlier, he wrote regarding man and the beast: "Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?" (Eccl. 3: 21.) This question is clearly answered in the above noted chapter twelve, verse seven.

Animals have a soul in the sense that they possess life. A common Hebrew word translated life (soul) is nephesh. Nephesh is used for the life or breath of both animals and man (Gen. 1: 20, 30; 19: 17). Life is that state that is the opposite of death. It is a state of animation, breathing, and awareness. Men and animals alike possess a soul in the sense of breath (nephesh). However, in the sense of possessing a part or element that lives forever, as man possesses, animals do not possess an eternal spirit (cp. Matt. 25: 46). The animal simply and totally returns to the dust, the spirit of man continues to exist (Eccl. 3: 21, cp. 12: 7).

The fact that animals do not possess an eternal soul in the sense that man does, does not de-emphasize their value as companions to man. Pets can and do become an important part in the lives of millions. Also, in man's charge over the animal kingdom, it behooves man to protect and not abuse the animals (Gen. 1: 26-28).

Sounds pretty egotistical and conceited to me. Where would us humans be if not for the love of animals?

Define the positive ontology of god, and heaven, then we can have a meaningful conversation, until then its useless.
