the word is not semitic but anti-semitic. it was coined in the 1800's to describe anti-jewish prejudice because of their semitic origin and it carries the same meaning to this day.

semitic refers to a type of language spoken by certain groups of people. that would mean that the jews are antisemitic too since they don't like semitic speaking muslims and arabs.
