Good!!

I love it! Someone finally having the balls to speak up in support of Palestinians in Gaza. That someone? Hilary Clinton.

It's about time someone stands up and let's the state of Israel know that not everything they do is okay.

Criticize Israel? Oh no! You must be a hateful holocaust denying anti-Semite!! Any American politician who questions any action of Israel is in the cross hairs of committees and subjected to finger wagging from folks like these in the article below.

Jewish Leaders Blast Clinton Over Israel Criticism
Zuckerman, Lawmakers, Local Jews Say Secretary Of State Not The Hillary Clinton They Used To Know
Hillary Pressuring Israel To Speed Up Aid To Gaza

NEW YORK (CBS) ―

In a swift about face from her views as New York's senator, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is now hammering Israel over its treatment of Palestinians in Gaza.

As First Lady, Clinton raised eyebrows when she kissed Suha Arafat.

Since she was then seeking a Senate seat the resulting brouhaha caused her to "re-think" her positions.

"I'm a very strong supporter of Israel," Clinton said back in February 2000.

On Thursday, as Secretary of State she had yet another about face in the form of angry messages demanding Israel speed up aid to Gaza. Jewish leaders are furious.

"I am very surprised, frankly, at this statement from the United States government and from the secretary of state," said Mortimer Zuckerman, publisher of the New York Daily News and member of the NYC Jewish Community Relations Council.

"I liked her a lot more as a senator from New York," Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D-Brooklyn, said. "Now, I wonder as I used to wonder who the real Hillary Clinton is."

Clinton's decision to hammer Israel comes as the Clintons and President Barack Obama are planning to give the Palestinians $900 million toward the rebuilding of Gaza in the wake of the Israeli offensive that was sparked by Hamas rocket fire.

"We are working across the government to see what our approach will be," Clinton said.

"I don't believe that we should be in a position at this point to do anything to strengthen Hamas," Zuckerman said. "We surely know what Hamas stands for as I say they are the forward battalions of Iran."

For some, Clinton's change of position is upsetting.

"I feel it's unfortunate that they don't continue the policy of the Bush administration, which was much more pro-Israel," said Akiva Homnick of Jerusalem.

"I happen to have a lot of family who live in Israel and I feel, personally, when you are dealing with people who are very strong against you, you have to stand up to them," said Tami Davudoff of Kew Gardens.

"Hillary had Mrs. Arafat here and she invited Mrs. Arafat for lunch when she was the first lady," added Babak Chafe of Great Neck. "She is pro-Palestinian 100 percent, really. Of course, we always knew it."

"The easy way to make a peace agreement is to pressure Israel because you can't pressure the Arabs," said Solomon Loewi of Monsey, N.Y.

All this could lead to a chilly reception when Mrs. Clinton arrives in the Middle East next week.

The new U.S. envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, arrived in Israel on Thursday with a mission to inject new life into peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

The goal is to find peace in the region.

The question is how it can be done without the resort of violence.

There are women giving birth at security check points because soldiers won't let them through. They are building walls through communities and separating families. They are building walls to enclose small settlements where a person can barely get through the opening, let alone a vehicle or pull cart.

I am ashamed that the US has supported Israel doing these atrocities.

this was covered up so that the american people wouldn't know how powerful the israeli government is over american policies. they got real upset when this leaked out and tried to clean it up. this is ehud olmert the former prime minister of israel.

In his speech, Olmert described his call to Bush while the U.S. president was giving a speech in Philadelphia.

"I said, 'I don't care. I have to talk to him now,'" Olmert said, describing Bush, who leaves office on January 20, as "an unparalleled friend" of Israel.

"They got him off the podium, brought him to another room and I spoke to him. I told him, 'You can't vote in favor of this resolution.' He said, 'Listen, I don't know about it, I didn't see it, I'm not familiar with the phrasing.'"

Olmert said he then told Bush: "'I'm familiar with it. You can't vote in favor.'

Arab ministers said after the U.N. vote Thursday that Rice had promised them the United States would support the resolution, but then made an about-face after talking to Bush.

A few minutes before the scheduled vote at the United Nations, Rice's staff told reporters she would make a few brief comments beforehand, but then abruptly canceled her press appearance, saying she would instead speak to Bush by phone.

The vote was delayed while other ministers waited for Rice to finish the call. She then entered the U.N. Security Council chamber, huddled with Arab ministers who shook their heads as she spoke to them.

Immediately after the vote, Rice left for Washington without talking to waiting reporters.

Israel's next government will be 'more Jewish and more Zionist'
By Haaretz Service and Reuters

Israel's next government will be "more Jewish and more Zionist", the confident faction leader of the right-wing National Union party declared Thursday, following coalition talks with members of Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party.

"There was very positive atmosphere at the meeting [with Netanyahu]," said Yaakov Katz, as he emerged from the talks at Kfar Maccabiah in central Israel. "...There is an understanding with Likud that the next government will be more Jewish and more Zionist."

Netanyahu, who was tapped to form the next government following national elections two weeks ago, initially turned to mainstream Kadima and Labor, but was rebuffed. Some Kadima members are, however, rebelling against party leader Tzipi Livni's determination to sit in opposition, and urging her to join a Likud-led coalition.
But a senior member of Likud said Thursday that differences over Palestinian statehood are likely to scupper Netanyahu's efforts to forge a broad government with Livni.

"There is across-the-board agreement on Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas but there is a big gap between Kadima and Likud on the two states for two people. It's unsolvable," Silvan Shalom, a senior Likud legislator and former foreign minister, told Army Radio.

Netanyahu plans to meet Livni on Friday in another attempt to recruit Kadima. He wants to shift the focus of U.S.-sponsored peace talks from thorny territorial issues that would set the boundaries of a state to shoring up the Palestinian economy.

Netanyahu has said any Palestinian state must have only limited sovereignty and be demilitarized.

Livni has said Kadima would not join a government that does not commit clearly to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

As Israel's chief negotiator with the Palestinians in the outgoing government, Livni has been at the forefront of a land-for-peace process whose declared aims are to achieve a viable Palestinian state and security for Israel.

"Unfortunately the answers we are receiving from Kadima leaders is that there is no chance of her changing her position. And it seems that tomorrow she will say a final 'no'," Silvan Shalom told Army Radio.

Asked about Shalom's remarks, a Kadima spokeswoman said Livni's position was unchanged.

"turkish" descendants? I would say that's far out, just a conspiracy theory. Most of the immigrants coming to Israel are from Europe/Russia/USA. Unless you go after the "Khazar" from "Khazaria" theory, which is far out another conspiracy theory. Those people are long gone, melted into the population of Europe/Russia/Asia. So if the immigrant Jews in Israel as much turkish descents as many of Europe/Russia and Asia.
The closest thing you'd find "turkish" descents are the Turkish. Another would be the Hungarians, who came from the border regions of the Khazar Empire, once were part of it. Then in this case if you believe that theory, then I'm the closest thing to a 'Khazar'.

think2deep's photo
Fri 02/27/09 10:16 AM
well, i'm familiar with the khazar theory you talk about. apparently there is much talk about that one. i don't know what the truth on that one is. but i know that the jewish settlers that came from russia and poland were first indoctrinated into the judaic religion and not direct decendents of judah like the ones that were originally from the middle east. the funny thing that people are forgetting is that there were twelve tribes of israel, not just the tribe from judah. just because we lost track of where they all went doesn't mean that the jewish community are the only israelites. i wish there was more research on the lost tribes of israel. because we might find out that most of us, jewish or not, are israelites.
