And why take the chance on the hit or miss....child molestation of any sort should get the same punishment as if you had murdered them...in all actuality...that IS what has happened! And some may say they get better...in my opinion...they simply didn't get caught again

And no one really teaches children much about sex...which is a good reason a number of crimes like this one here go unreported because children don't know the difference. 75,000 bond is actually average for a child predator, a lot of them really only get charged with solicitation because that is as far as law enforcement is willing to take it and probably as far as it will go successfully without hitting on double jeopardy. It isn't that easy to convict someone that preys on children mainly because the star witness is the child and they are not always so willing to stand trial.

Full circle...
My daughter came straight to me when a convicted offender flashed her...he is still doing his time...he received 18 years...but I had always made it clear to my kids that no matter what they threaten you with....come to me! Bad people lie to children to hurt them and frighten them, I was so proud of her in the courtroom...her testimony enabled children to be free of him for 18 years

She was so brave.happy flowerforyou

She did good.drinker

there should be no bonding of this guy...he should remain locked up...on the other hand...where the hell are the parents of these kids while thier children are partying on friday and saturday nights with a sex offender???...i think the parents should be charged with child neglect in the same courtroom as the sex offender.

**Currently, there are no civil confinement laws in New York state. Sexually violent predators are released into our communities once their sentences are complete, which Assemblyman Barra feels are much too short, despite the fact that there is a strong possibility they may repeat their heinous crimes. Consider these statistics about sex offenders:

*60% of convicted sex offenders are on parole or probation.
The National Institute of Mental Health reports that a typical child offender molests an average of 117 children, most of whom do not report the offense.
Assemblyman Barra spends a day talking with local schoolchildren.

*A polygraph study found a sample of imprisoned sex offenders to have extensive criminal histories, committing sex crimes for an average of 16 years before being caught (Ahlmeyer, English, and Simons, 1999).
**A pedophile will not stop on his own, and will not turn himself in, because he does not take responsibility for his behavior and denies that he’s doing anything harmful. He will abuse until he’s caught.
*For every one offender in jail or prison, there are three sex offenders on parole or probation. (U.S. Department of Justice, 1997).
*Intensive supervision including the use of GPS monitoring devices for the most dangerous offenders is essential to monitor and control the whereabouts of the most dangerous sex offenders walking the streets.
*1-in-5 girls and 1-in--10 boys are sexually abused before they reach adulthood, but less than 35% of these sexual assaults are reported to authorities.
**Released rapists are 10.5 times more likely than non-rape related felons to be re-arrested for rape. Those who have served time for other sexual assaults are 7.5 times more likely than those convicted of other crimes to be arrested for a new sexual offense.

With all intended purpose of the very word, nothing is truly curable...just managed.

Either way there have been numerous cases in which a sex offender became a productive member of society upon release, so yes it can and does happen. I don't mean to be coming off in the wrong manner here, but I have researched this to a certain degree with my research of serial killers. The problem is that a lot of prison systems don't have active programs for sex offenders to attend, those that do actually have a very high turnaround.

Again, hit or miss...but it can happen: http://www.atsa.com/pdfs/Managing%20Sex%20Offenders%20in%20the%20Community-A%20National%20Overview-2003.pdf

There's an offender a block from me. He's older and served time for being with a child in his family.

The street won't let him join in on any block parties. The law won't let him give out candy on Halloween. My child has been warned to not go near that house!!!! I don't care if he took a program in jail. They don't work.

And as I said...why take the chance...this is not an accident or a mistake in life....this is something that someone wants to do and carries it out without any regard to anyone but themselves! AND..as I said...unless someone is with those that have "recovered" (sorry, still no such thing) 24 hours a day, seven days a week....how does anyone KNOW they have not offended again?

I am so sorry this happened to your sister. It happened to me when I was 7 and by not telling anyone (he threatened to kill my mom)...this gave him the opportunity to also rape my little sister when she turned seven...neither of us spoke up until he was dead, may he be burning in hell to this day

I'm just presenting facts, you can argue them until you are blue in the face but they still remain facts. Sex offenders DNA is placed into a registry that is held by the FBI, as soon as they offend again and the person they offended comes forth (the tricky bit) they get locked up again and another strike placed against them. Typically a second offense leads to a minimum of 15 years or so, with a max possibly being life depending on the severity of the crime.
