Topic: MS vs FB | |
---|---|
I have had a MySpace page for years. Just started Facebook day before yesterday to quiet the friends who kept asking. *sigh*
What do you see as different? I'll hold out saying anything for a bit here. AND If you have Facebook hit me up (email me) and add me if you like. I have most of my friends from here on My Space but only family friends on my growing list on Facebook. |

I've been thinking about deleting myspace. I rarely ever use it. Facebook, I use to keep in touch with friends all over the place.
Myspace, I would get random messages from guys wanting to hook up. It doesn't happen on facebook. |

i'm not on either one

I still don't see the reason for either Myspace or Facebook. I mean... c'mon- the sites CAN'T be that cool, can they?

I refuse to do either, due to several reasons.
The first is there is no way, with what I do for a living, that I would allow for anyone to see me on those sites. As well, employers look there. They are insidious in that we allow ourselves to be violated and transparent electronically and this exposes us to more vulnerabilities than we realize. I value my privacy. The second is that they are fads. Like pet rocks and jelly shoes and friendship bracelets. The third? Well, I am snobby and resistant to change. I just bought a DVD player four years ago. I don't have an iPod. I go into the bank. I see the benefits of these sites. I just feel the risks outweigh them. I adore you Fade... I'm just throwing out my opinion. |

I've also been able to get in touch with old friends that way, too. Myspace is pretty bad now, though. I don't recommend it at all. |

i think the profiles you create on such sites are what you make them...
whether transparent, or built up with walls. some push products or creations they have some try to get their music out there. others use it as a way to communicate more with the world. i've had a myspace profile for over 3 years. albeit, the one i have now is no where near what my old one was, but i haven't frequented the site much... seems other sites have my attention more these days *wink wink* |

There ain't no way on God's green earth that I'm gonna spill mah beans to practically everyone else on the Internet for the same of some sort of Internet fad like MS or FB. That goes double for any employers who might be looking at what I put down for their own nefarious purposes. Besides that, I just don't feel I'm self-important enough to show myself off like that on those sites. On a third-rate online dating site? Mebbe. But not on MS or FB... that's just tacky. |

And here's my take. My Space is my 'wild side' page. (It's not THAT bad at all, just fun) And ya .. my former employer who is known to be ultra ultra conservative almost fired me for having it. WHY? Because my job was high-profile and they felt some liberal agenda could smear them because of MOI. Ya. I should be so important eh? LMAO Facebook is mild. I might even find a potential job on there .. I have industry connections I will add who might consider me for employment. hmmmmmmmmmmm I betta stay professional there? |

Yeah, I dont have either. I detest MySpace. It's too big, too complicated to move around in there and there's been a whole lot of bad press, too many youngters, too many bad elements.
I admit I don't know a thing about Facebook, have never even visited the web site and don't wish to. Anyone I wish to keep up with I can do so here,or folks can write me and I will give you my off-site e-mail. That works for me. |
