I don't debate on the existence of "God" because so far, the term "God" has not really even been defined. At least, not between you and me.

How do you define "God?"

In fact, I was not even talking about "God." I am talking about the Biblical account of creation. It is the Bible and the New Testament that I have my doubts about.

I define God as an omnipotent, omniscient and loving being who created the universe. I was merely trying to prove that there is a significant other-wordly being who had a hand in our existence, rather than everything merely just "happening."

why don't we take a look at the fact that carbon dating is severely flawed past 40-50,000 years? how can you tell if something is 2 billion years old when your practices are flawed...

Probably the same way your "God" can kill his only son(who is actually "God") for a sin that didn't really take place, and is just "one of the stories" in the bible. . .

for a sin that didnt really take place? really? everyone in society is flawless and free of evils? oh ok. i'm assuming the next thing you're going to come at me with is that Jesus wasn't real.

Personally, I don't think that Jesus was real. There may have been a "Jesus of Nazareth", but I don't think that the Jesus as presented by the bible ever actually existed.

hmm.. you realize that there are more writings about Jesus that came from around the same era right? I guess you don't believe in Roman history either though, right? it is even documented in Jewish rabbinical writings that Jesus was hung for heresy...

I take it reading isn't your strong suit.

Sorta goes against that little "truth" book, don't ya think?
huh

I only believe that the bible was written by men,(and to steal a line from Bill Maher in Religulous. . .) When I say men, I mean people with penises, to keep other people down.

did you want me to alter the truth and say, "rabbinical writings say he was nailed to a cross?" i didn't write their books... my point was that he was accounted for in many different writings around the time he was on earth...

i take it that common sense isn't your strong suit.

This coming from a person who believes there is a magic sky-man, with a list of ten things you absolutely cannot do, and if you do any of these ten things, he will send you to a place of burning and suffering, but he loves you.

i take it you haven't read the Bible... but... if you sin, and you are a Christian, you aren't going to hell... its called repentance... that doesn't give me free reign to run around and hack people up with a chainsaw though... the goal is to become a better person, and to not commit the same sins over and over again... we are human, we cannot be perfect.

and yes, He does love me... He also loves you and everyone else on this planet.

then you must not have read it clearly, or you were taught wrongly... Christians don't go to heaven because of sin... that was the whole point of Jesus' existence... "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is through Jesus Christ..." Romans 6:23... or i'm sure you've heard this one... "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16

You can quote it all you want, and make all your claims about my understanding of it. Won't change the fact that I see it has a complete work of fiction.

Truly the entire universe is an amazing and awesome miracle beyond our wildest imagination, and so is the fact that anything at all even exists.

Neither science or religion knows how or why we exist.

But...

That "God" is a omnipotent, omniscient and loving being (or deity) has not been proven.

How the Big Bang resulted in "life" has not been proven.

In fact, nobody knows anything.

All evidence in the quantum physics arena suggest that we don't exist at all.

And yet.... here we are.

Each of us, thinking that we know what God is,

...and we don't even know what we are.

smokin huh

What would prevent macro evolution? It has already been detailed that macro evolution is just micro over long periods of time.

The thing is, you talk about holes but have not mentioned a single flaw with any part of the theory of evolution.

Here is your link to Radiometric Dating. Carbon dating is only used when we are doing recent (~70K years) times. Igneous rock is where its at for ultra long periods of time, not decayed plant life.

http://facstaff.gpc.edu/~pgore/geology/geo102/radio.htm

There is a thing about proof, if we found someone dead, and there was a murder weapon, it had your finger prints on it and no one else, that would be fairly damming proof would it not?

What if we found a shoe print in the yard next to where we found the body in the perfect position that a person would be in if they where dragging the body. We match this to the exact brand, design, size, and wear pattern on your shoes?

Evolution has THOUSANDS of these kinds of DAMMING clues that would be enough to convict on and rightly so.

very eloquently put. you have your beliefs, and I have mine. one day we will all know the truth... we might as well all get along for the time being and learn, and grow with each other.

That was my understanding. Its the exact same process but macro evolution just takes place over a tremendous period of time. Well tremendous in comparative human terms anyway, insignificant in a geological time frame. Thats why I feel like its truly absurd for these Christians to insist that micro evolution is proven fact and macro isnt. Well macro requires a very long period of time but its the same process. huh Evolution can speed up and slow down as needed also.

I do not BELIEVE in evolution. I accept it as the only theory that explains ALL of the evidence.

ok wait, now billy I usaly agree with you, but ONLY a theory?
A theory is pretty sound.
In alot of cases I'll take a theory over a fact.
A theory has gone through alot of testing for many years.
And a law is what explains the theory.

I just dont understand what Christians who reject this theory understand all these skeletal remains to be? Just made up? Invented? A conspiracy? Fake? Why is hard proof so implausible to them yet fairy tales written 2000 years or more ago are perfectly acceptable? huh

If that is all you have, that is not enough.

They wrote very little and there is a good chance that Josephus was a pen name for someone else.

Not good enough anyway. He wrote very little if he even wrote it.

For a son of God.. who came to save the world, and did miracles and walked on water and brought a man from death, crucified, born of a virgin, Josephus, if he was not just a pen name, wrote very little about Jesus.

I don't think Josephus was a real person, a fictional character modeled after another person perhaps. No record of his death.

Tacitus too, wrote very little.
