But still, some people are very ignorant. If you ask some Americans(as an example, not to pick on you yanks!) where some states are even, they cannot answer. I have come across this a lot.
This is absolutely the truth. I am an American and I am not offended by this comment in the slightest. I consider myself a fairly intelligent human being (college graduate) but I am well aware that many Americans are somewhat ignorant of geography and civics in particular. Case in point. The other day on a thread, a younger male rattled off the first few lines of The Declaration of Independence and quoted it as being taken from the Constitution! I almost fell off my chair. The Declaration of Independence is a historical document and Americans should be well aware of the difference in these two manuscripts. Sigh.

There is actually a couple I don’t know without looking at a key. It’s the ones that aren’t the first two letters of the state name. Like Alaska threw me because it is AK. AL is Alabama of course. Just ones like that I will miss.

Beats me I have had one for years I use it all the time. Now we have to have it to go to Canada. And since they are closer for shopping than the mainland I need my passport.
I do have friends that have never been abroad. I am kind of sad for them. |

Yup. Got mine. Used to fly to europe for the day just to shop! Those were the days!! (worked for Alitalia back then and flew for free)
Italy is next for me. Will be my third trip there. |

I never got one as I have never had any plans to go abroad. I would like to travel, but I don't think it will happen within the next few years.

I heard a while back that something like 80% of Americans don't have one. Which i found quite surprising. Even if i had no intention of going abroad i would have a passport anyway, just in case. Do 80% of Americans have no desire to go abroad ever? Why is that?

Well a few days ago I had in fact posted in here that I did not have a passport and did not have the need for one.
Well I still don't have one but will be applying for one very soon. It seems that my brother, my sister and me along with our kids ect.. have now planned to all go on a cruise in September together for a family get together of the sorts. We have never all went on a vacation together and several of us have never been on a cruise but some have. So I had brought up th  is last year when we were together at my brothers that we should all book a cruise together in advance in order for everyone to save up.
Well it seems they took my suggestion to heart and the plans are in process. Well actually several of us have in fact already booked our reservations and put down our deposit for the trip. And well part of our documents we must have is in fact a passport. So soon I will no longer be one of those without a passport. 
And the best thing about this cruise for me will be it is something I have always wanted to do for many years and to kick start it all we will be docking in the Cozumel Islands on my Birthday to boot. Ohhhh I feel a party coming on lol |
