Are humans effected by the cycles of The Moon? We are said to be about 90% water, and The Moon is what causes the the tidal flow in the ocean. Does it effect us in the same way?

Just a thought...

It's fact that on a full moon hospital emergency rooms are busier than at any other time.......

What do YOU think?????

Another moon related question I've been pondering is....

Why hasnt anyone ever returned to the moon? We have the technology to do it. Was the moon landing in '69 (or whenever that was) REALLY a hoax, like some people speculate????

what

I was born on a full moon. Always feel the pull.
Love no moon times as well. Strong feelings, strengths at each.

This January full moon was quite intense for ne, in a good way.

You?

Hi Dancere!flowerforyou

Well...I'm a Cancer, so I'm ruled by The Moon. I usually can't tell a difference though.

But yeah, that last BIG full moon we had. I was in a weird mood that night, and my body felt kind of weird too....

Hey Freek! Top of the mornin' sweet one.flowerforyou drinker

Well, that's because Cancer folks feel the moon nonstop. Everything about you relates back to the moon, as your ruling force.

BTW, I LOVE Cancer men, sweetest ones on this planet!!! And, y'all always love women SO much, particularly when the relationship w/ mom is bon!

Its all gravity. If you climb a mountain you get further away from the center of the earth and thus experience less gravitational attraction.

When the moon is directly overhead, its gravity will pull you up ever so slightly, this will nullify a very small part of the earth gravitational attraction on you.

Do I think it is enough to have a measurable effect physiologically? No.

Gravity does effect our physiology, but the small amounts of change we are talking about, I doubt it.

I believe it's entirely possible as an influential factor. Using that as a model, it would be a fair assumption that everything dealing with gravity and frequencies would have some effect upon us. Radio waves, microwaves, satellite waves, cell phones, ect..

Lunar = moon

Lunacy = madness caused by full moon.

it's been known for centuries....

ask any emergency service worker.... full moon intensifies everything... always busier on full moons... go to a mental health unit for a few months, as an observor... you shall see the natural fluctuations parallel the moons phases... with or without patients being medicated.

It would be an interesting clinical test (if one hasn't been performed already). Placing an individual in a sensory deprivation tank to reorient the circadian rythme and such to see if there were any emperical evidence to support the observations. Perhaps tell the volunteer (falsely) what the moon phases were also to test the power of suggestion.

I suspect you will find it has already been done.

Auto suggestion will influence to a degree... however it will not show authentic changes...(the mind is a powerful tool open to suggestion... however organic behaviours always show themselves eventually)

What has been tested and is extremely interesting is that when people remember things its when it was a positive effect. People almost never remember the times when it was not so.

If would indeed be interesting to go through the statistics instead of asking people.

At the University of Miami, psychologist Arnold Lieber and his colleagues decided to test the old belief of full-moon “lunacy” which most scientists had written off as an old wives’ tale. The researchers collected data on homicide in Dade County (Miami) over a period of 15 years — 1,887 murders, to be exact. When they matched the incidence of homicide with the phases of the moon, they found, much to their surprise, that the two rose and fell together, almost infallibly, for the entire 15 years! As the full or the new moon approached, the murder rate rose sharply; it distinctly declined during the first and last quarters of the moon.

To find out whether this was just a statistical fluke, the researchers repeated the experiment using murder data from Cuyahoga County in Ohio (Cleveland). Again, the statistics showed that more murders do indeed occur at the full and new moons.

Dr. Lieber and his colleagues shouldn’t have been so surprised. An earlier report by the American Institute of Medical Climatology to the Philadelphia Police Department entitled “The Effect of the Full Moon on Human Behavior” found similar results. That report showed that the full moon marks a monthly peak in various kinds of psychotically oriented crimes such as murder, arson, dangerous driving, and kleptomania. People do seem to get a little bit crazier about that time of the month.

That’s something most police and hospital workers have known for a long time. Indeed, back in eighteenth-century England, a murderer could plead “lunacy” if the crime was committed during the full moon and get a lighter sentence as a result. Scientists, however, like to have a hard physical model to explain their discoveries, and so far there isn’t a fully accepted one. Dr. Lieber speculates that perhaps the human body, which, like the surface of the earth, is composed of almost 80 percent water, experiences some kind of “biological tides” that affect the emotions. When a person is already on psychologically shaky ground, such a biological tide can push him or her over the edge.

Pretty fascinating stuff...

But what is not being controlled for here, is the knowledge of the full moon, and the social idea that it does what is does, there fore establishing a self fulfilling prophecy.

Hell there are some nut jobs out there who think THEY are werewolves.

Again, the idea that there is a physiological aspect to the way gravity effects our behavior seems baseless, this is interesting data however, and very valid to form hypothesis based on, however to truly determine the cause would at least require some double blind tests.

I have no doubt that it has a psychological aspect given the concepts of werewolves, the mythology of full moon lunacy and the social idea of behavior change at full moon, but my comments where centered around the idea of a physiological aspect which was implied and is implied in the original post and the energy idea and the mythology of full moon lunacy.

However again, very fascinating.

This doesn't make sense who would plan a murder on a full moon, too much light. Now what I used to do, er uh scratch that.

Maybe more in the days before electricity, because full moons gave more light at night, more was noticable. I think it's all in our minds, maybe we notice more on full moons because we look for more things. IDK, just thinking out loud.
