What is your favorite Coelho book? The Alchemist-very moving Yes... I read the Alchemist when I was in college. I found it to be so full of wisdom. It was one of those that really helped me grasp the depth of myself - the "magic" so to say. I really enjoyed Veronika Decides to Die, as well. |

You should see if they do... lol... not that I'm telling you what to do, but I really enjoyed it a lot! I also liked the Valkyries and the Pilgrimage, although not as well as the other two. I was also told that if I enjoy Coelho, then I would probably enjoy the story the Baron in the Trees by Italo Calvino...

Fav author- Charles Bukowski Fav book is The prophet- Kahlil Gibran I actually have The Prophet. I have yet to read it though. I like Nora Roberts, Stephen King definitely, Edgar Allen Poe was one of the greats, Ann Rice, Walter Mosley (Killing Johnny Frye), Mike Fontenot (a fellow writer and good friend) And has anyone ever heard of that new up and coming author Julia Becca? *bats eyelashes* I hear she's pretty damn good. |

As was mentioned, I also like Barbara Kingsolver and John Updike, and I would recommend for those who noted these books to read Joyce Carol Oates, especially the book, Them.
I would add to this list: Michael Chabon, Michael Cunningham for north American writers, and Gabriel Garcia Marques and Jose Saramago in south america; Zadie Smith from the U.K. My all-time favorite book is Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky. |
