I can't take it anymore... I must speak out.
For those who need to know, the proper use and spelling of these widespread errors are: W O M A N is the singular form meaning one woman. W O M E N is the plural form, meaning more or all Your vs You're: Your is the possessive... meaning it belongs or is characteristic of YOU You're is the contraction for YOU ARE. It would be so refreshing to see them used correctly. I'm not judging, just respectfully educating. These are extremely common errors. I hope this helps. Done with good intentions. |

Spelling & Grammar Police! Up against the wall you habitual offenders! Hey girl... nice to see you again. I'm sorry, I had to vent... these two errors have annoyed me for years. I cringe everytime I see them. I'm not OCD, but I worked so hard in school to earn my diploma and it irks me that so many adults couldn't pass a 5th grade spelling or grammar test. I saw more red marks on my papers than I care to remember. Don't teachers correct these errors anymore?? PS. Another one that bothers me is the confusion by highly educated people as well of the terms, "Unconscious" and "Subconscious" I unconsciously did something.... if you are unconscious... you are not aware... not awake... in a coma-type consciousness. The correct term is Subconsciously did something. OK, I feel better now... Good to see you again... |

Stop, y'all are cracking me up... I love the responses.
And for the one who asked: Their = the possessive for They (It is their car we are riding in.) There = the place (Over there) and of course.... They're = the contraction for They Are... (They're gonna run with this one, I just know it... LOL) And of course... sometimes it's ok to say, "Thar", depends on your accent. I think that works for all of the uses. Have fun with it. |

I am a stickler for grammar and puntuation (an exercize in futility on any chat site) Got rooked into coming up with a thread in which EVERY thing is misspelled...go post there for a few days...if you haven't killed yourself...then this other stuff will seem enkonceekwuential. |
