I guess they wouldnt be my best friend any more since I picked him to be my best friend cuz thats something we have in common. Just wouldnt be the same.

I had a friend I worked with for many year, not my best friend but a very good one, who changed genders. He lost his family, his children were embarrassed by him more so than most children, his job, and nearly all of his friends. I would have stayed his friend but I lost contact with him. The last contact I had was when he returned a book I had loaned him. Then, phone number changed, emails not returned, no idea where he lived. I feel really sorry for him for what he had to go through to be comfortable in his skin. I wish there is something I could have done for him, but his/her entire world was in turmoil. I can only hope that she has made great new friends that accept her for who she is.

suddenly decides they want to change genders do you still accept them as your best friend or drop them as a friend? I come home after being gone for 14 years and one of my closest friends tells me hes gay. My response was "Yeah, and???" I don't care what someone want to do to themselves or what they want to do with Who. My friends are my friends. I have so few that I can't afford to loose anymore.

Sure I would stay friends with them. usually though when something like that happens people tend to drift apart because they have been living a lie for so long that when they come out they develope a whole new set of "gender bending" friends. Kinda like when a really good friend gets married and then all of a sudden you just don't see them anymore. Agrees! I've seen that with a friend who came out the closet a couple years ago. She has a whole, new circle of friends now and hardly ever returns calls from those of us in the old circle.

Whoo Hoo, maybe that will get him to stop making passes at me! Am I the only one on here who's best friends is already the opposite sex? So no, I would date him if he changed his/her sex; I don't swing that way.

Still my friend. Wouldn't affect my opinion of them in the slightest. We might just have to stop sharing the Bathroom.
