How much time do you spend on the putting green?

I spend a whole lot MORE time trying to get TO the green...lmao

Or do you mean how much time does it take me to line up my putt??? lol

I have two friends who like to play 'best ball' but I hate that...how will I improve if I don't hit my own mistakes???

Your opinion?

I meant on the practice green...do you have one near the clubhouse and the driving range?

If I can hit straight at the driving range...how long is it gonna take me to develop a little distance???

Well...power/distance mainly comes from the lower half of your body. The further you rotate your hips, the more club head speed you will have at impact.

The thing is, if you start trying to swing harder, you could very well start to lose control over whether or not it goes straight.

I was reading Golf Magazine a couple of weeks ago and it said to go for power, then accuracy.

I beg to differ with that. I would much rather be able to control where the ball goes and then work on distance from there.

What color is your bag?

Do you have driver covers? Do they match?

Do you wear a glove?

My current bag is blue with black trim. I'll be getting a new one of those too, though. So I'm not sure what color the new one will be as of yet.

I don't have driver covers. Never really saw the need for them. I figure I'll wind up getting them with the new clubs though.

Yep. Left hand. Just bought two new ones a few weeks ago.

Well my logic was the same as yours...that if I tried to muscle it I'd hit it god-only-knows-where. So I've just been hitting (although I already confessed I've been off the range/course for most of the year due to the soon-to-be OLD job!) Power from the lower half...god knows I ought to be able to capitalize on that!

I have to wait for it to get warm enough that I can test swing some clubs at King Par.

Until then, I won't be able to get a good feel for the clubs.

I figure sometime in March. That also happens to be when King Par puts all the clubs from the previous model year on sale at nice deep discounts.bigsmile

My girlfriend had a beaver driver cover...looked like the ANIMAL with teeth but you can guess that it was always the topic of lots of conversation during business tourneys...LOL!

I don't use them...what a waste of my time and besides, I'd be too OCD about always getting them just so. Better to forget that stilly stuff!

Well that's sweet...the sale, I mean. If you lived in southern NM you could play about 350 days a year - put there is no King Par :(

Best ball is good for when you want to get some golf in, but don't have a lot of time.

I've played it a few times. It can be fun. But I agree with you. The only way you can improve is to hit the shots out of the crappy stuff that you get yourself into.

it's also the best incentive to not make the same mistakes over and over.

Honestly. I never spend a whole lot of time on the practice green. Mainly because the practice green doesn't give you an accurate idea of the kinds of putts and green conditions that you will find on the course.

Well it IS a self-competative sport for me (I don't take it that seriously in terms of playing against others) so I can be a little obsessive about improving my own performance. I think I really DO need to get more involved in this because just talking about golf makes me very happy...

Fire away. I'm not a very god golfer, but I LOVE talking about it.

I never figured I wold be the kind of dude to have golf hook me the way it has.
