It seems as if even those that are claming to be christian are a little sceptical of claming their faith.

Its a turn off (At least to me) when Its pushed up in my face like I have to be a christian too, or have to have their beliefs to be a good person in their eyes.

It's not a turn off to be a christian, just when it's used to base judgment on someone else.

thats why everytime people start doing that I 'm usually the first to counter them and get in their face.

Religion is good for some and not so good for others. No one has the right to force something on to someone else just because they think its a good thing. Asking them to keep an open mind is one thing but Forcing is another thing all together.

In answer to your question I don't think that BEING christian is a turn off, but what you do with it can be.

I was on a date with a pretty nice girl once and she brought up religion and I told her I didn't really believe in it and preferred the science theories and the things we could prove and she started saying I need to believe in God because he's real and will judge me, yada yada yada. So yea, when someone pushes it on me it's a real turn off. I don't mind discussing religion and why I believe what I believe but don't try to push it upon me and tell me what I should think.

It turns me off. If you want to believe in a 2000yr old undead megalomaniac Jew carpenter then you do that .

religion is not a turn off to me at all. God is good and has bestowed many blessings on me. i also do not judge other's for their beliefs or non beliefs. as a christian, it is not our place to judge others. i do not force things on anyone or preach to people. i do however stand strong in my faith and beliefs, but do not smother those who do not wish to hear it.

There is a distinct difference between being a believer in Christ, Lord Jesus, and believing in "religion" - walking with eyes wide open in the holy spirit - and knowing that Faith is an action verb - has nothing to do with the man made hypocrisy found in the postulation of religion upon the masses.

I've found, people of Faith seek to share of their personal experiences with their Lord Jesus with other folks - thought their thoughts, actions, and prayers. These folks know that they come from a position of being full of God's love and that love/Faith/serenity/peace comes through in their interactions with others. People who live in that LOVE don't need to cram it down other peoples throats in the name of religion - as would that really be the demonstration of love? No.

Please don't confuse these two very different positions: being religious is not the same as living in God's Faith.

I've had a couple of dates and one g/f that wanted me to " convert ".

My, now ex, g/f figured out it wasn't gonna happen the day she decided to send her Uncle, who is a Baptist preacher, to talk to me about God.

By the time I was done with him, the man was in tears.

Suffice it to say...she never tried it again.
