did anyone say you cant, the scottish had hand fasting, being ceremonial and giving your heart into your beliefs of marriage no one is stopping you. The goverment just doesn't recognize it....Is it the feeling of being with someone for the rest of your life. many hetersexuals do not need vows to do that, why do homosexuals? (not just hinting that the reason for pushing the government for recognition of marriage for homosexuality really stems from, tax credit and health insurance equality.)

Seakolony, You have not disrespected anyone, IMO. You are speaking your opinion very well. I hope that wasnt for what I said and HOPE she dosnt think she was!!! She said previously that she hoped that she wasn't being disrespectful to anyone. I couldn't quote it because the thread was locked. Thank you Winx, I try not to but have run into a few with persecutive complexes, LOL. "persecutive" I had to look that up and hope I have not been that way. If I have I am truly sorry. I can be hard headed! not at all no problem

well besides the health ins. which is the reason I am for it. Why shouldn't it be recognized?? No we don't need vows to afirm our love and commitment to each other. And you are right heteros don't need them either but you do them cause it is your right. I just think it should be our right as well!!

Cant you give yourself the right in your heart many people aren't as negative as 20 years ago. I agree UMP's should have the same right as an MP and if you maintain a dedicated relationship for a length of time, then, you should be allowed the same credits and insurance availabilities as the rest.

I think it just gets under my skin when all the forums that talk about Gays rights verses Hetero rights it always goes back to religion! I am not sayin I need to be married in a church infront of God but at the same time I don't see why I can't!! Like I said before I know God loves me and thats what is important! It is a vicious cycle of who is right and who is wrong. I just voice my opinion is all!

They would have the right not to perform a ceremony under the laws of freedom of religion, and may not even be allowed to depending upon the religious aspects.
