When I was in elementary school I had a friend whos parents were devout Christians although I didnt fully have an understanding at that young age. They would tell her things like if she was bad, god will cause another flood.

That's just messed up. I know one of my friend's, while she was growing up was constently warned of the coming of Christ. Any minute... and second Christ will come back and snatch all of the good Christians away. Did you get saved? Have you been forgiven today? What sins have you done today? You don't want to be left behind! This is what was discussed daily over dinner. These are the same parents that threw their 17 year old daughter out of the house because she didn't spend enough time reading the bible.

As a child I use to wave a homemade wooden sword in the air acting like Luke Skywalker with a group of kids from school.

Suddenly the next day only 3 kids out of the bunch hanged out with me.

Later did I find out that Star Wars or anything Fantasy was forbidden to watch, play, or talk about in their religion.

I give you three guesses, which religion that was.laugh

In the long run it doesn't matter, I got rid of my wooden sword and made a wooden pistol acting like Hans Solo later onlaugh

Thats sad, but it's really no different than parents using stuff like santa, the easter bunny, the tooth fairy, and the boogie man to control their children.

Yea I got told how horrible I was because I refused to lie to my daughter about Santa. The way I saw it was I worked my azz off for the money to buy her presents. I sure wasn't going to give the credit to some damn imaginary fat man and his elves.

I feel the same way. Whats funny is some people think we are just ruining the poor childrens lives by not lying to them.

That's such crap. So what, when the day comes that she finds out there is no Santa she gets all disappointed and upset? That's part of her "happy childhood"? I don't think so. The "toothfairy" tho does leave money under her pillow laugh however she knows the real identity of the "toothfairy". She also reminds me and says Mom... the "toothfairy" forgot to put money under my pillow last night... maybe you should have a talk with her. laugh
