Topic: This OLD house.....BOO! | |

Would a house's history prevent you from buying it?
If you knew someone died in it or was murdered there would it prevent you from buying it? I'm looking at buying a home this month and it was once an old funeral home in the 1920's. It didnt stop me from being interested in the home, but my friends all think its weird...they wouldnt buy it. |

I once lived in a house that had been a funeral home. The old morgue was right below my bedroom
weird noises all night every night and always a feeling of spookiness |

I used to live in a house that was once a funeral home... Yea the place was haunted don't think I'd ever buy a house with a past like that...

See my thoughts on it is a funeral home is probably the safest place to live when choosing an older home. Most likely its one of the only houses a hundred years old that someone didn't die IN. But the embalming room is going to be my art studio...I wont make anyone sleep in it.

There is a house on my road where i live.
A few years ago the son (around 45 years old or so) beat his parents (over 80) with a hammer. Killed his father in the bedroom chased his mother into the basement it was so bad that they had to steam clean the walls and the wall paper came off the walls. It's law that the realtors have to disclose the homes history. There were at least 5 families that I know of who backed out of the final deal at the last minute. |

The realitor seemed odd when she told me it used to be a funeral home, but I didnt see anything creepy about the house its gorgeous! |

See the home that I lived in started to get creepy... Lights turning off in rooms with no one in them nothing wrong with the fuses... Things flying off the wall..
The things that broke it for my family was my little sister came into my bedroom yelling at me to get out of "daniels" room.... Saying he was going to hurt her if I didn't get out of there... Next day I heard my sister screaming I ran into her room she was backed up into the corner screaming "Don't hurt me" there was nobody in front of her or anyone else in the room next thing I know I see imprints of fingers across her neck as if she was being strangled..... |

I think depending on your beliefs, its a risk. My only concerns would be if you had small children, I'm not sure how to explain it but they pick up on things that adults would never notice, they still see the world around them, if you will.

I think it depends on your imagination Twilights, I bought a home that everyone said was haunted..I actually got a great deal on it because nobody woould buy it..I remodled, and moved in..other then the normal settling, never once heard or saw a ghost...if you have a hyperactive imagination..I guess it would be a bad idea! Good Luck and you will have great place for Halloween!!
