Are Europeans more comfortable with this than Americans? I have heard this but didn't know if it was a myth or not.

Okay, sorry. Americans generally seemed very concerned by ads with nudity in them, talk or suggestions of sex on tv, etc....whereas Europeans seemed to be less bothered by these things. I have heard that sex is more taboo here than in Europe.

It is true that there is a lot of censorship on t.v and adds etc. Now I am a canadian ,but what you have heard is probably right.

Being naked definitely makes sex easier but, by no means is nudity required. Around me, the crack of dawn ain't safe.....

Its no myth. Europeans are much more comfortable with their bodies and nudity in general. They have a very casual attitude and you will never be looked at oddly for going topless on a beach or in a sauna or around a pool. In fact the facilities are all designed for that. Generally thats how Europeans can pick out American tourists because they will see them awkwardly clutching towels and schlepping around half dressed, looking embarrassed. Sitting in a sauna or steam bath without a sticky swimsuit feels good. Entire families of grandparents, parents, and grandchildren will hang out together completely nude without any embarrassment.

The reason there is less importance to nudity in Europe is because there is less hypocrisy about it.
From small age less importance is given to nudity and kids get used to seeing topless on the beach as well as day to day roaming in the house.

Here in USA unfortunately the atmosphere is rife with hypocrisies. For example here in Los Angeles there are more than 1500 different sects of Christianity and yet the San Fernando Valley is the biggest center of the porn production in the world.No body seems to be uncomfortable with that. I guess they would be if their daughter's were porn stars

I would guess that the intense fear and desire to censor the human form that still prevails in American culture today hearkens back to our puritanical Christian roots. They were around just long enough to instill that horror and contempt of healthy sexuality and public displays of nudity.
