Well, I don't think even Americans consider that indecent - or maybe some of the more fundamentalist Christians do. I think that is considered to be art even by the most conservative of folks.

Several of those are saying forbidden. Those are simply statues though. We have replicas of a lot of nude European art in the states actually. Generally nude statuary is considered acceptable here.

yeah, but that's only what isn't banned on this forum, for example, because they are only statues. This is only the tip of the iceberg.

Also consider the thousands of these, along with paintings, books etc...it's a conditioning that you get used to.

well I don't make the rules for art.. but whatever the majority considers art isn't considered pornography or sinful.. although even in the renaissance if you notice how the paintings of naked women look like men with breasts.. very muscular and such.. its because thats what they are.. many artists didnt use women.. they used men and just put breasts on them..

I didn't really think statues/art were what the original post was really talking about. I don't think most Americans would have a problem with the images you provided.

Still looking.. but just check out Michelangelo's women in many of his paintings.. you can see by the body that he actually used men and simply put breasts on them.. but I can't find the pics I want to share...

I know in normal commercials on Italian TV and probably French and German broadcasts also, they have nudity. The statues are not what we are addressing. That is art by European masters. No one is complaining about that. We might be Americans but we aren't complete idiots. We do have art schools and museums here. laugh

No, but there is this weird thing of being against nudity and yet accepting pornography. I'm not against porno whatsoever. But I've met people who were outraged by open nudity and yet accepted the dirty stuff.

I understand that, but still there is what I said before, being conditioned in a different way.

That is another aspect of the historical impact of Christianity arguably. When something is shunned and suppressed in society, eventually it needs to go underground because there is a desire to acquire it. The adult film industry is HUGE in the states and is a multi million dollar industry because it satiates that need.

I went back and looked at the pics Atlantis posted and you are right. They are very masculine except for the breasts.

Prudes? I was just discussing in another thread how other countries think Americans are 'godless heathens' because of Victorias Secret.. I guess it depends on who you know...

I didn't agree about the Victorias Secret though.. but I will agree about being a heathen devil

No one is saying all Americans are. Many are, though.
