Many years ago, my ancestors left Norway and came to the US.

My great-grandparents spoke only Norwegian.

My grandparents spoke Norwegian and English.

My mother spoke only English. Of her generation, only one sister
bothered to learn any Norwegian at all.

Other than "fjord" and "Trondheim" and a few people's names, I know no
Norwegian at all.

I'm suggesting that this is something of a parallel to JSH's current
situation re: our recent additions.

I'm suggesting that we take this day, this Friday the 13th, with all of
its associations to bad luck and misfortune and black cats breaking
mirrors while walking under ladders, and turn it into something good --
a symbolic milestone of the unification of JSH.

Not to say we ever need to forget totally "where we came from" -- just
that "where we came from" is over, gone, in the past, and has no
relevance to the futures we have here, on JSH (and in real life as
well)....one can look back on the past with nostalgia, or with horror,
but the fact remains that one must look backwards to do so....

Let's make this Unification Day, a day where every one of us can stand
together and proclaim that THIS is the place we want to be, THIS is the
place we are going to make our homes -- THIS is the place we are going
to make even BETTER than it is today.

You are right, good post Lex, Never forget where you came from but
remember were you are look at the future this is the best damn site on
the net. We all come from different back grounds, but we still hall have
one thing in common, and that is to make friends. Reminds me of some
thing I read a longtime ago

I am with you, Lex. Seems like I wake up into a new world everyday. When
you get knocked down just dust yourself off while you are getting back
up. I feel that everything that has happened to a person is whats makes
them who they are. It is certainly good to have friends. Today is the
first day of the rest of your life.

Thank you, everyone. I believe that we're beyond the point where we
need to hang onto the old, unpleasant memories of whatever places we
came from. This is now, today, and JSH is here for all of us. Let's
not lose site of what we have by focusing too much on what is no longer
there.

You're right lex. The pass is there, there is nothing we can do to
change it. So there is no sense dwelling on it. Sure you may never
forget it but, it is only now and the future you can change. You are
here at JSH, we do not care about were you came from we just care about
you and who you are as a person. And that should really be all that
matters in the end.
