Well, I went out and bought some Ginger Ale.

Hey, it's not Champagne but at least I tried. laugh

I wanted something other than water for the Great Rite. Not sure why, it's just an intuitive thing.

Do you think they'll notice the lack of 'spirits'? spock

Whenever we do circle we always have "leaded" and "unleaded" drink to pass around. It's just polite. If you are alone than you would only serve what you drink. The spirits are happy either way. flowerforyou

Very rarely. In fact, I never think to buy it myself. About the only time I ever drink it is if a friend offers me something.

I'm not opposed to drinking. I just have no desire for it myself. But I was going to drink some champagne for this celebration. Mainly for the Great Right.

But then I was going to sip on it all day. laugh

I guess I'd have to drink the whole bottle myself. Maybe it's just as well I didn't get it. bigsmile

Can you buy small bottles of Champagne?

I don't even know what's available to be honest about it. I'm just not into alchohol at all.

For some reason I just felt that Champagne would be fitting for the Great Rite ceremony. But a lot of people just use water.

I'm going to use Ginger Ale. laugh

I feel like a little kid anyway. I think that's the way it should be. I'm not looking at this from a somber point of view of a monk. I'm seriously looking at it through the eyes of my inner child. So I guess Ginger Ale is fitting.

Maybe it was meant to be and that's why I forgot it.

Yes you can buy smaller bottles. Sometimes liquor stores carry those but Im sure you wont get yourself wasted on one full bottle if you drink over the course of the entire day with some food in your stomach. You might have a headache the next day is all. You can also brew your own hard cider if you want to be terribly hardcore and pagan about it. Let me know and I will email you a recipe. Ive done it and I regretted it. Yum.

What the? noway I was doing a search for "ritual alcoholic beverages" and found this weird article. I dont know if its real or a put on.

Freehold, Iowa - In an act that can only be described as pure evil, a rabid young Wiccan girl wearing a black cape burst into the Landover Baptist 11 a.m. Sunday morning church service and flung the bloody carcass of a headless black cat across 297 pews.

http://www.landoverbaptist.org/news0702/wiccans.html

Oh its a put on! That site is hilarious. laugh It looked real at first glance.

Is this too loud?

I just made a 'cover page' for my new website. The links aren't active yet. But I'm just wondering what people think of this. This will be the main menu for the site.

Also, how does it look on your brower?

I can only test it on mine.

Cool cover page. Is this website just for fun and friends or do you want to generate traffic?

(If you want to a decent search engine rating to generate traffic, a cover page is not a great idea.)

The home page will get search engine attention if there is an article describing what the web site is about.

Just for fun and friends.

I have no reason to generate traffic. I'm not selling anything, nor to I have any ads or logos, or anything that generates money.

It's purely for my own display of personal stuff.

I already have a lot of song web pages up, I'm going to clean them up individually and link them into the music link.

I have a lot of poetry too and I may write some more. So I'll get that page up and running pretty quick too.

I have some paintings already and some computer art. But now that I have a place to show off my paintings that might encourage me to create some art.

I already have some witchcraft pages up and I'll be adding more to that too. I just need to link them up.

I've been putting up random pages all scattered. I'm thinking I should link everything to a home page. So that was the idea with creating this little main menu page.

It took me about 4 hours to design that little sucker.

But that's mainly because I'm on DIAL-UP! sad

This dial-up is getting seriously frustrating anymore.

In fact, that's what's been keeping me from doing anything serious on the web. It just takes forever to upload every little thing. ohwell

I like those tables and borders you used for your poems with the nice pastel backcolors. I think I'm going to follow in your footsteps somewhat on that design. Owl have to see how thing unfold.

It looks fine on my IE7 under WinXP.

The "floating" effect works perfectly with all the text and GIFs.

On the screen I'm using (a small laptop) the fiery font is a little difficult to read easily in the smaller point sizes of the menu, but it looks really cool on the bigger font of the title.

Good overall contrast and a clean design.

Two thumbs up

Thanks Sky,

I might try to do a 'mouse-over' deal.

When you place the mouse over a flaming link it blows out the flame so you can see the charded word more clearly. bigsmile

That'll take me a day just to make the graphics and code for that. laugh

But it might be really cool.

I could spend a week just on that one silly page.

While I'm into mouse-over's I could have the daggers turn into skulls when the mouse goes over them just for fun.

I might play with that page for a while yet.

It looks very pretty to me on my firefox browser.

And even though, like sky, I'm using a laptop, I have no difficulties to read the flaming text.

I can read it alright James. The flame looks okay against the black backdrop. Now is this going to eventually become an E commerce site at some point? Do you want to sell something? Or is it just Abra's personal homepage which Im sure on its own will get some traffic if you post the URL on forum. If you are going to get into selling stuff, then I guess you would need to improve your search engine ranking etc...

Don't be too discouraged with dial up. When I started on the Internet I had dial up and a computer that had only 320 MB of total storage. It was an old computer that I had souped up to equal a Pentium 1 and it could barely navigate the Internet. I had to search for and find programs written in machine level language that did not take up a lot of space on my hard drive. I got to know some really cool hackers and programmers on the net and found some cool free programs for my computer that were free and very small and did awesome things.

I learned to write HTML from free tutors on line, got free programs, and learned to build web pages from scratch. It is like learning your ABC's in web design.

I was still on dial up when my friend Darla told me she had DSL package from Centurtytel that was a good deal and I did not even know if I cared to change. But she convinced me I should so I did. Wow it was a lost faster and now I love it.

Yes if you are going to have a site, you should have it easy to navigate. I would love to go to your sight and listen to your songs and read your poems but you don't have navigation so I can't find your stuff. I think you will really like web site building. It is a great creative endeavor and very fun and satisfying.

I think you should set up your site and navigation first and then play around with the home page design later. You can always replace that. That way, we can get to your stuff before the end of 2009. laugh

Dial Up teaches the user a valuable lesson.

It is "patience"

for some patience is a virtuelaugh

but again for some it also teaches

"frustration"laugh

Im on cable but I also have a significant RAM shortage which causes problems. It can be a little frustrating. I might try to get more RAM but Ive also been told that if a computer is too old, more RAM wont change anything. That might be the situation here. This computer was given to me free by a friend so I cant complain. I will probably just have to get something newer. I figure that will give me about a month and a half before it is obsolete anyway. bigsmile
