I usually use chanting with my candle magick. Chanting builds up energy that I release once I feel I have built up sufficient power.

Here's a website with some good little spells to try if you are so inclined.

http://www.ecauldron.net/spells/index.php

Now can anyone do this?? I mean I have no clue what I am doing. I have candles here at home.

Well, that's an issue of debate amongst the Witch community. Some say you should learn grounding and centering first. And, then you need to work on visualization. I think before I attempted a spell I did do some reading on the subject prior about how to raise the energy I needed and then how to ground myself once it was over. I think the ability to visualize just comes with practice over time unless you naturally have it, which you very well may. I have to work on it myself.

It seems logical to go a little slower John. I mean you have what, spent one afternoon asking questions about Witchcraft? It probably cant hurt to get a few books and read up on it before casting your first circle or conducting a spell. Im not saying you cant do that but probably it is better to know what you are doing first.

Yeah, Krimsa is right. It's not overly complicated, but I think I studied about a month before attempting my first spell. If I remember correctly it was a quick little spell to find a lost item. It worked very well.

I love chanting, but I chant Nam-myo-ho-reng-ge-kyolaugh over and over when I meditate in Buddhism. I gather the forces of Earth to seep inside me and give me a great feeling of one with Earth.

I know it sounds silly, but it makes me feel balanced and gives a point of peace of mind and soul.

Ruth- It says candle magic is a form of sympathetic magic. It is the type of magic that follows the rule "like attracts like", that all things are connected by invisible bonds. In Candle magic, candles are used tp represent people and things. It goes on to say a very simple example of candle magic is seen in Roman Catholic Churches where a petitioner lights the candle and asks for healing. In medieval Europe during Yom Kippur, it was a Jewish Custom to light a candle and place it where it would not get accidentally blown out. It was left there for 10 days before the Day of Atonement. If, at the end of that time, the candle had gone out, it was taken as a sign that the person burning it would not live out the year.
In most candle magic in which a number of candles are used, the candles are distinguished from one another by their colors. Then it goes on to define each color... It also says that the color of candles used to represent people is based upon the person's zodiacal sign.

Yes I am heading back to the bookstore tommorow anyway to buy another load of books. So many on discount just before the holiday seasons. I am taking advantagelaugh

I will probably not start with spells until I figured out Tarot Card Reading and Tarot card gaming. Yes it was a game at one time as you probably already know. I like card games so it is a must on how to play a game of tarot cards:smile:

I think that’s probably better than jumping into a spell. Also, the more you read the more excited and enthusiastic you will become and that also allows you enough time to plan the spell correctly and pick the perfect moment to maximize its success. All of this is creating focused energy which will help.

Interesting. yes, candle magick is sympathetic magick. I usually carve into the candle my intentions in symbols or runes and then anoint it with a corresponding oil. I also use particular color for particular spells. Like green candles for money spells, red for love, etc.

Sympathetic magic, also known as imitative magic, is a type of magic based on imitation or correspondence. Imitation involves using effigies to affect the environment of people, or occasionally people themselves. Correspondence is based on the idea that one can influence something based on its relationship to another thing.

Contagious magic comes from the belief that after a person has had contact with certain things, they will continue to influence that person. Common examples of contagious magic involve things like fingernails or hair that someone has lost. If you damage a person's fingernail, the person who lost the fingernail should be affected.

You'd have to lock them up during the spell. I prefer to use small candles that will burn down in less than an hour.
