Doom on floppy disks.

Bought it for my Packard Bell 486x2 with 24MB of RAM, my first computer in 1994 (?) , can't remember, but I remember it cost me close to 3500 bucks with the monitor.

I have very vivid memories of my first video game experience.

The year was 1987. My mom and dad and I were visiting an aunt and uncle in the city. It's funny because this particular aunt and uncle had a reasonable grasp of recent trends while the rest of the family was more or less stuck in the '70s. They felt wealthy enough to buy newer technology, whereas most of us were just too damn cheap.

Yes, friends, that unveiling that occurred at my uncle and aunt's in 1987 was of the classic Nintendo Entertainment System.

The first game I ever played was Super Mario Brothers. Although I preferred Duck Hunt because it was easier (it took me at least 3 or 4 years to pass world 1-1, although in my defense, I never owned a Nintendo of my own with which I could practice). The result was amazing. Never before had I fathomed the possibility of manipulating little characters on a television screen. I was up thinking about it that entire night.

It was a defining moment when my best friend got an NES for Christmas around 1989. With ill hopes of getting one for myself, I bummed Nintendo moments off my friend. Our favorite games were River City Ransom and Rampage. Such classics.

I didn't discover my first arcade until 1990. It was the Warman arcade, a place that was as alive as a perpetual fountain of youth in those days. Sadly, the acrid cloud of cigarette smoke played havoc with my joints even then and made me sick to my stomach. But I will never forget those arcade memories. Playing and playing until we ran out of quarters, and then bugging our parents for more. In those days, I was so bad, I could go through 2 bucks in less than 30 minutes (a fact somewhat attributable to the insane difficulty on most old-school arcade games). But there was one area I excelled in. I absolutely loved the old beat-em-ups. Final Fight, Prisoners of War, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the Arcade Game, those and others like them fueled my early interest in video games. I also fed a lot of quarters into Street Fighter 2.

Best memory: playing Street Fighter 2 when I was 12 and having a bunch of teenagers watch my progress. They all had their girlfriends, and seeing me play, they decided they could kick my ass easily. As I happily recall, I beat every one of them with Ryu, despite the fact that I knew only basic attacks, and every one of those guys was far more well-versed in it than I was. It was one of the most satisfying moments of my life. They put quarter after quarter into that machine in a mad effort to beat this little kid who was making them look bad in front of their girlfriends. I never died once.

In that moment, I knew...I had arrived.

Super Metroid for the SNES was a sweet game! The NES ones were fun too; pretty difficult though, like most NES games.

Well if you ever do get it, my gamer tag is the same as my Mingle name. I'd be up for some locust hunting! I have Gears 1 too BTW. I just signed up for XBOX Live gold so I'm good for a year. Fun to play online!

Especially the HALO story, which while the original has a great story, 2 and 3 leave alot to be desired. Those games were mainly made for multiplayer. They are fun, and great games, but I do enjoy a great story too.
