Topic: Is there a graphic designer in the house? | |
---|---|
I am so close to finishing my book and putting it on Createspace.com
Only problem is it's made for people good at graphic design. Can anyone help me here? I only have a couple of questions on the cover and 'book block' If anyone would PLEASE help me I'd REALLY appreciate it. |

I can draw stickmen.
Might could help but I haven't messed around with any of those programs in quite some time. |

I do fluid conceptualization...you can check the art in my profile.....but, lettering and symetrical layouts ain't my thing....
If you need a wild pic on your cover...look me up. |

Thanks. It's about finding myself through my grandmothers journals after she's passed. Finding the erotic and sensual side of writing. I have a good front cover, but was hoping Createspace would help with the rest. I'm ready to pull my hair out.

Could always go cheap and invert the cover image and place that on the back or wherever. |

Look at my work becca....my erotic stuff is not posted here...(I do have quite tasteful erotica)...
That is cool that sensual erotica is what you want to preserve. I applaude that thought! |

Depending if you really like the original image you could do a lot of things to seperate it from the initial image. One; you can invert it and change the color from rgb to black/white or any of the other options. You could also overlay the image as a background on the original image giving it a double vision look (this can be done multiple times depending on the program going from double all the way to quadruple and up).

I'm an online publisher and I am certain that I could craft something suitable for you. Do you want a painting, simulated oils, watercolor, photograph, or virtual world frame? If you haven't found anything suitable then give me a buzz.
I also like to talk with new authors about their experiences online. I HIGHLY recommend hipiers.com, Piers Anthony's website for critical review of physical and virtual publishing. I've known him for a few decades and the ole curmudgeon has very acute and perceptive reviews. Thanks, D |

aw honey really? online self publishing?
|
|
|
|
well.....yea, why?
Createspace puts my book on amazon.com plus i get a free website and they don't charge me until orders are in for my book AND they don't take 1/2 as much as the publishers. PLUS i can still pursue a publisher if i want to |

yeah absolutely you can. and i would never discourage a fellow writer because i'm sure you're talented. but after so many different conventions and industry agents and editors i've spoken to... once you self publish that story.. no one will touch it. only because once you self publish with places like createspace or lulu.com you are copywriting it. and major publishers won't touch previously copywrited product.
i'm just saying. i dont want to stop you and i dont want you to think of this negatively. but i've seen too many writers to tanked their careers through these sites. unless you're just after getting your book out there... and nothing else. please don't take this in the wrong way. i'm just trying to share what i know. |

with the research i've done, it's difficult for me to believe a publisher will help an unknown author.
i've been told one way is better...i've been told the other way is better. sometimes it makes me crazy to think about it...like if i step one more step in 'that' direction i can't go back |

thats because it is difficult but what is life without a challenge? imagine this... you are one of buhzillions of people who think they are writers. half of them have some kind of novel finished at least as a rough draft. a quarter of those have gone even further by joining a crit group and really polishing it up. and finally... a very few of them left are submitting this to agents and publishers. its still huge number of people. so yes.. its hard to be chosen
thats why you have to make sure yours is the one they choose. yours is the one that catches them... making them stop. you have to fine tune it until you can do no more and its freakin gleaming. and then you have to fight for it. submit until your brain explodes. stephen king was turned down over 40 times before he found an agent. now look at him. get it? |

They will be able to take a look at your work and tell you whether or not they'd be able to find a publisher for it. Whatever you do..don't go with Lex's agent. That dude is working on getting Lex's work in the Asian market...but has yet to get his work into an American bookstore!!! |

LOL some books are much more marketable in other countries. lol some agents have connections in all the strangest places. I can't wait until i get there man. |

I'm a graphic designer, I do things for the web and for print. If you haven't found a solution yet, send me a message and we can discuss details.
