To PacificStar48. I was just looking at the professions of the guys that made the offers.... ones seems to have the type profession that traveling would be no big deal.

I think I'll keep chatting with them for a while longer and see if we connect more. I will tell them not to rush it. The one guy that wants to meet me next week is just gonna have to wait. That isn't happening.

There are 4 in all but I think two are not really serious.

Yea you never know. I would have never guessed I would have picked up and moved a couple of times I have. Being young you always have the option to go take a summer school session and see someone in their own environment. I have a couple of friends that had their company transfer them and took their time once they got there. If I was young and had no kids you bet your britches I would take a job that let me travel. Almost every chain store has opening crews for their better employees. It can be a blast be cause you travel in teams.

I think it's smart to be cautious about long term issues. Success stories that begin this way are exceptions. The only question is whether or not you believe your case is really that exceptional.

Hello ScotishGerman27

Post 800 times in a week?:

1: I registered on my day off and put in most of the post then
2: I've been in a few heated "debates." Those threads have been moved to storage.
3: My boss lets me post from work when it's slow.
4: My first time on a dating forum. It's new and exciting. By next week I'll be now to a normal person's posting level.
5: I live in a small town and I am not a party girl. My girlfriend and I like to kill time posting.

Mostly it was #2

Welcome to Mingle. I am Mingle's MindyMindy

Yes I would definitely not put my dateing life on hold because someone suggested they are hoping to come see me. Too often LDR's do fall apart after the initial meeting.

I'd be suspicious as hell if some guy was willing to travel a loooong distance just to go out with me. It screams of desperation and it makes you wonder, why???? He can't get a girl closer to him? Seriously??? And then it'd be like you owe him something just because he came so far to meet you. Yeah, I wouldn't be interested in that.

i'd be suspicious as hell too, but for a different reason than the guy appearing to be desperate.

i'd be inclined to think that the guy is a scammer and has absolutely no intention of flying anywhere to meet a girl who lives that far, after only having spoken with her a few times.

invite him to fly out OP; i'd be willing to bet that no one will show up at the airport.

Half an hour to an hour drive is the longest I will travel now for just a date. I have been stood up to many times to count after a 2 hour drive. Thats a long time to be on a highway ticked off. LOL

Now after talking to someone on the phone and emails and cam for 3 months, I went across country,(he paid for the ticket, I paid for my room in hotel). I did this for a year, every 3 months. Needless to say it didnt work out in the long run, he found someone closer to where he lives. ehhh well.

haha, two months is different, way different, than two emails!

i'll keep my eye on the forecast for wednesday, but doubt i'll be able to do an overnight (because of the kids and school).

Do you mean you were stood up from guys you met on a dating site? Is that normal for dating sites? I have heard others mention they were stood up after planning a meeting with a dating site guy. Seems to happen more than it should.

Maybe I need to have the guys always come find me. I really can't stand anyone up. If you find my town then you find me. You can ask almost anyone in my little town if they know Mindy and they will know where I live and work.

Me, I don't think so. There is one person that I have gotten to know here that I would travel to meet.
2-3 hrs is the limit otherwise.

Hmmmmm...

What is long distance, btw? Is it measured in drive time/distance?

I don't know about traveling far, but I've gone through a lot of trouble to keep up a local date. Suppose for me it was to be on schedule (I'm a very timely guy), that and it was a "Mutual Match"...and you just can't pass those up.smokin

I don't have any limits. We have airlines. Now I'd probably stay within the US, but that's not etched in stone for the right person.

My limit is about 4 miles. Maybe 5 if it's nice out.
