I got lost at orgasm...

I don't know of a food that carried a laundry list of potential side effects that the Pharma crew lays claim to. I've eaten some crazy burritos and none of them have caused me to bleed internally. Maybe McDonalds, but I don't eat that crap. I'm a diehard label reader, I do my best to stay in the healthy and organic ball park, but thats not easy unless you have alot of disposable income.

Food, Drugs... regulated by the same group of cronies.

In excess all things can be bad for you, but some things just aren't made for human consumption.

I'm highly considering it for my daughter. But I'm definitely going to weigh the pros and cons
HPV is too widespread whether you have the symptoms or not.
At 12 years old my daughter is not even thinking about sex right now (thank God)
I've talked to her and been upfront to her.
Hopefully it'll last

I saw an episode of House the other night that mentioned that arsenic used to be used to treat lukemia... it slowed its progression. Lame example, but who knows, it might be true!

I'm no scientist, but I would think the ingredients had a purpose or a balance in them. After all, I smoke, I know it's poison.... I still do it. The treatments for things are riotous.... there was cocaine in Coca Cola.... the cure for "hysteria" was orgasm...

All I know is the orgasm should be a cure for more things. laugh offtopic oops

I have leukemia, it is true. Actually, all chemotherapies are poison in one way, shape or form. flowerforyou

when I was married a million years ago, my step daughter contracted the virus and the cancer resulting from.

she had a hysterectomy at the age of 19 and was crushed. Now she'll never get to have children

I think if this vaccination will spare some kids from that misery I'm all for it

What are the stats on it, Daniel?

I'd like to compare that to the polio stats.

I think it's really sad how brainwashed people are. HPV wasn't even seen as a big deal until right around when this vaccine came out. There are several hundred forms of HPV and this vaccine is only said to protect against 3 of them. 99% of cases go away on their own and it's said this vaccine doesn't even protect against the one that causes cancer. I think it's here to control the population. One of the main ingredients Polysorbate 80 has been found to cause infertility. Not only that the same ingredient is a known carcinogen. Plus haven't all you people heard of all of the new outbreaks young girls have had of genital warts since receiving this vaccine? oh and the deaths...Come on think for yourself and quit believing what doctors and the media say to you.

I had never even heard of HPV until I started seeing the gardasil commercials. It's a load of crap to me. I would never vaccinate myself with it and would never vaccinate my son with anything of the sort. NO FREAKIN WAY!

Regarding the first portion of your post. HPV has been a big deal for quite awhile. The connection between HPV and cervical cancer was being research in the 70's. The connection was proven in the 80's. In '97 cervical cancer killed 500,000 women per year.

Two of the types of HPV (that the vaccine covers) are responsible for 70% of the cases of cervical cancer and they cause 90% of the warts.

In the 80's and 90's I knew people that were getting HPV.
One friend had to have laser surgery to have them removed from around the rectum. That person passed out onto the floor after having their first b.m. after the surgery. The pain was that bad. And the warts keep coming back. The warts can lay dormant for years.

Male friends of mine were getting them on their penis. When they weren't showing, they could still give the virus to the ladies.

The CDC estimates that there are 6.2 million new infections each year in the United States. And there is no cure!

It's rare but it can be passed to the baby during childbirth.

I realize the issue has been there, but it wasn't brought to everyone's attention until the vaccine was already being produced. I mean statistics show over 80% of women have some form of HPV before they turn 50 so I don't doubt research has been going on for years. Most cases do go away on their own though. The ones that can turn into cancer can be saved easily by getting a yearly screening. All can simply be prevented by having safe sex.
I just think there are better ways to protect our children. If we just take a little time to educate them then there will be no need for this.

Women die from cervical cancer even with cervical screening.
Many insurances won't cover a pap every year.

Education is great. But..all it takes is one mistake. I believe everybody has made that mistake.

And what happens if you marry somebody that has the virus and they don't even know they have it?

According to the U.S. Cancer Statistics: 2004 Incidence and Mortality report, 11,892 women in the U.S. were told that they had cervical cancer in 2004, and 3,850 women died from the disease. It is estimated that more than $2 billion is spent on the treatment of cervical cancer per year in the U.S.

One's body still has the virus even when the body is no longer making the abnormal cell changes. You will always have this virus.

come on.......slaphead slaphead
the HPV vaccine is a zillion time better than the flu vaccine

hpv can lead to cervical cancer..currently the fifth most deadly cancer for women
70% of which is caused by HPV.

this vaccine is miraculous....it PREVENTS cancer.

and from what I can research, the biggest PROBLEM with the vaccine..is somehow they gave it to PREGNANT girls..noway noway noway

I had a neighbor almost DIE from a flu shot..she got Guillain-Barré....and yes I still do get my flu shot every year.

Are you really going to say that people will still continue to use condoms after they've been in a monogamous relationship for years and have been tested? The carriers are asymptomatic and there is no test to see if you are a carrier. Many of the women who are getting the hpv virus are in monogamous, stable relationships.

As for HPV being a known STD, I've known it since I was a very young teen in the late 70's, early 80's. It's been around and publicized. But, there was nothing to be done about it until this vaccine.

The risks of this vaccine are probably no greater than any other vaccine you give your child or yourself. Yes, educate yourself, yes, make your own decision. But, don't JUST listen to the negative reports of the relatively few serious problems that have occurred. Your chances of getting seriously injured or killed in a car accident are far, far greater yet most people would never consider giving up their car. flowerforyou

I am all for immunizations but I feel this one leads to a false sense of security as does the flu shot.
I believe they have a cure for cancer and the drug companies have suppressed it because think of all the drugs out there that revolve around it.JMO
Anyway they will not be giving it to my son.I don't like the odds or the lack of info on long term effects. My daughter is 24 so she can choose.

Correct me if I am wrong here, but I know I remember watching news reports about the issue of parents deciding for their teenagers wether or not they can receive the drug. From what I remember, and I admit I could be wong, the courts decided that the parents did not have the legal right to choose one way or the other with this drug, due to the contraversy behind it. They (the courts) decided that the teens had the right to choose for themselves wether or not to receive tis innoculation BECAUSE of the serious risks of sterilization, paralyzation, death and so much more.

This went into court in the first place because states were making it a mandatory innoculation, like the chickon pox vaccine. And if I remember correctly, the final decision was that it was up to the individual person themself and no one else on wether or not they received the vaccination.

Yep, women still die, but I bet they aren't getting screened yearly as recommended because it takes a while for it to turn into cancer. Insurance not covering a pap...thats crazy. Isn't that a main part of the yearly exam? If your insurance doesn't cover it just go to your local health department and they will take care of the pap and HPV test at little or no charge to you. It's really simple.
Go ahead and vaccinate your girls. It's your decision after all. I just wanted to give my opinion. I think these vaccines are tainted and I think they do more harm than good. Everyone can do what they want with it. I mean they will...

Just because you are in a monogamous relationship doesn't mean you can't get a yearly screening. Thats the main thing.
I'm sorry, but it wasn't even known by the name HPV in the 70's. You must have been a Washington insider if you knew it by that name then.
