There is no satan, no demons, no evil spirits, just a lot of mythology and scared people . . .

I think Nicolas Copernicus would agree with this sentiment. So would Galileo

La liberté n'a pas de prix.

The Catholic church sure didn't like Galileo.

I think thats good advice. The holiday itself means whatever you personally want to project onto it. For some its the birth of Christ and for others its Yule and for some Hanukkah and so on and so forth. It makes the season really fun and busy.

I agree. I don't worry to much about what is right and wrong with this holiday. I have seen Yule celeberated often in my country and had great times with those who invited me at the time. I have celeberated it in Catholic and Christian form also. Today our family, which is non-religious will be celeberating it in "Johnny" way and I care less if it is not acceptable by other standards. The main thing is our family can shed a smile throughout the day.

We just call it a family day where we put extra effort in making the food taste good and prepare for family games, stories, and catch up on stories of what we did throughout the year.

To be honest to you, Christmas is everyday since I am fortunate to be alive and with my family.

I truly have seen too much in my lifetime. Families seperated unwillingly because of war, including starvation and poverty. These people will not be celeberating Christmas. They will be fighting with alot of people on trying to get a bowl of rice into their stomach.

I shed a tear for them and hope their conditions will get better.

Sorry Krimsa, I am sure you didn't want to hear all this.laugh

I am wishing you the best holiday seasons however you choose to celebrate them.

Ive actually always considered Yule to be very similar to Christmas minus Jesus and Santa. Those are the two primary Christian additives once the holiday was adopted. So they are similar. Its the Winter Solstice festival with the inclusion of Jesus essentially.

Yamin, is this web page one of your people that believe as you?

Click:

Yamin......this website Telephone shared, believes in Jesus as the Messiah...

But Yamin , I realize you don't believe in Jesus the Messiah...or Christianity.

Also....
I saw where you wrote in another thread, that pagans worship Jesus ...and that is incorrect, Yamin..... pagans don't worship Jesus......

so...... may I ask ...what is your belief ...and what group or faith do you exactly belong to Yamin....

if you don't mind my asking....

I rarely agree with MS but that is a true statment. Pagans DO NOT worship Jesus. They dont hold faith in any of that. There are MANY different forms of Pagan spirituality but generally it is the belief in a Mother Goddess (of which there are many interpretations) and a male Horned God (of which there are many interpretations).

Lets just get that straight right now.

No Pagans do not worship Jesus. I view Jesus and Mary the same as I view Isis and Horus. The goddess and her son.

Here is an excellent depiction of that parallel.

Krimsa, thanks for posting those images. Most people do not understand how I can practice Paganism and Catholicism, but it's really quite easy. Of course, my disclaimer is always that no self-respecting Catholic would call me a Catholic. Fair enough.

Catholics go on missions during the holiday season to attract more people into the church. What were you thinking?
