There are a hundred threads out here on 'nice guys' and 'bad boys' .. What about the guy that colors out side the lines, pushes the envelope, isn't a 'yes man' but is EDGY. Where does HE fit? eh? I'm a rebel in my soul, so a Braveheart kinda guy is the HOTTEST to me .. but I wouldn't consider that BAD. Just EDGY A RISK TAKER - stands up for what he believes and won't back down. ((((((( NO FEAR ))))))) SEXY IS AS SEXY DOES! thoughts? I did not read the 45 pages, so my apologies... I have to agree with you Judy. A man who has an edge to him is great!! as long as that "edge" is not in any way arrogant or self-centered... the man that has the edge with humility and confidence is fantabulous!! |

I) "Look at me" .....1) Look at me, look at me! .....2) Look at me, look at me! .....3) Look at me, look at me! .....4) Look at me, look at me! .....5) Blah, blah, blah, I'm schizo.... weeeee II) Ad infinitum. .....1) Blah. .....2) Blah. Narcissism (psychology) -- -- "The term narcissism means love of oneself, and refers to the set of character traits concerned with self-admiration, self-centeredness and self-regard. The name was chosen by Sigmund Freud, from the Greek myth of Narcissus, who was doomed to fall in love with his own reflection in a pool of water. While almost everyone is narcissistic to some degree, certain forms of narcissism can be highly dysfunctional, and are classified as pathologies such as the Narcissistic Personality Disorder and malignant narcissism. Psychopathy, as defined by the PCL-R, also contains a narcissistic factor." (Wikipedia, 2008) References Wikipedia. (2008). Narcissism (psychology) Retreived November 24, 2008 from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissism_(psychology) in case you didn't know....if you look up the DSM IV manual, it will give you the exact description of all mental illnesses.... DSM IV...Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 4th edition. |

I believe the current edition is the DSM-IV-TR, it is the most up to date. and, yes, to be accurate, everyone has a bit of all personality traits in them...when any one of the traits becomes dominant, there can be a lil "problem"... Pathology is much different than some random in-effective coping skills. a bit of an "edge" is generally not a pathological situation... |

I believe the TR version came out in 2000 or 2001...I cannot remember off the top of my head...there are probably not any major changes in diagnostic criteria, some minor changes in things to assist with ICD-9 coding more than anything... I do not remember anything about being "edgy" in any of the criteria to meet a pathological status... I could be wrong... sorry for the off topic posts Judy... |

You are correct....it says it was published in 2000, but won't be in effect until 2011....which makes no sense....it is a revised version, due to misinformation in the DSM IV....it should be in use as soon as it is published.... Thank you for the info.... |
