This is a heavy topic.... Ok I had to say it...    very true and i think if it bothers them they should do something. but people ought not to judge people because of their weight. People shouldn't judge other people for ANY reason .. physical, mental, emotional, education, socio-economic, racial, faith-related .. There isn't any justification for judging.  Yep... that's a heavy topic.

No one should judge anyone because of their weight
What someone is physically attracted is different then judging someone. I am great friends with a few women that are a little heavy. They are like my sisters and I love them dearly. I would be there for them if they ever needed me... I personally am not attracted to heavy women. But I sure dont judge anyone because of it...

Struggle to keep my weight down. Doesn't help with someone buying cake every day at work. lol Under 200 feel best when I'm under 180. My Dr likes to tell me I'm borderline obese geesh I would say that if I was over 200. At this age hard to get it off and keep it off. Use to be thin but after 30 something turned around and was 40 and fifty lbs heavier. Congrats TXmama that is great! Well I like my curvy baby girl self. Got a good heart if a guy wants thin not me. Want a guy that like me for me on the inside.

 I just gained back the weight I lost! Stupid chocolate!!!!!! Well, you still look mighty sexy in those glasses Miss Tanya.  Chocolate....the food of the devil. exercise.....the enemy of the lazy I know you are expressing your opinion dude, which is fine. But.....not in here please sir. This is a thread supporting women of this body type. And it is comments like the one you made that have always been a "stigma" for them. I have some heavy friends who do this...they are big, but they crack jokes about big people, including themselves... They do so, to show that poeple can't hurt them by saying mean things...and it reduces there stress levels... I am the same way...I act goofy to try to make people laugh. no offense was intended to anyone who is overweight...I intend to offend only those who offend me first... So, with that being said, I am sorry, to those I offended.... Hopefully I can ask for forgiveness.... Forgive and forget? Or not even forget, but at least forgiveness... Goof thanks for the thread of support. It does help to know that there is a person for everyone; which I strongly believe. It brings balance and reassurance in and overly critical world.
It might of been helpful if you would have put "Supporting a few extra pounds" as the title to your thread. Yes I read your intro but when threads go on for several pages they do tend ot morph because the OP isn't right there. I wasn't a big fan of the "piehole" remark. It attacked the person and not the message so while I don't agree with his premises I think you missed a teachable moment. Yes it was an intrusion on the thread but if we take opportunities for undertanding where we find them you would advance the cause a lot faster. I am not sure why it is always permissible in our society to jump in and dog on people for weight but maybe it is one of the predjudices that still have a margin of political correctness. Much like ableism where people make jokes about the short bus or use hurtful phrases like calling others or even themselves retard. Or ageism where making cracks about getting old and not wanting to live after a certain point. It hurts a lot of people. Hopefully we will continue to move forward in eraseing all predjudices. I think we; I say that because my weight either not enough, perfection, or too much has been an issue for most of my life and it gets real tiresome; have to try to rise above the slander and tell people the truth. We have to tell the truth. I am human and yes I could push through the pain and skip a few guilty pleasures but over all my weight issues are real so I give them on occassion a little more grace than they deserve. I don't believe it would significantly change my size however. And I don't view myself as lazy so I try not to accept the insults I don't deserve. I do think we need to vote with our actions when we see products and programing hawked with ridiculous stereotypes. I guarantee you the models would change if people of size would stop buying. If stores don't carry products in our sizes boycott them entirely. Don't buy their jewlery, cosmetics, or anything. If people insult you with stupidity or inexperience correct them politely and or ignore them eventually things will get better. We are in the majority afterall. Seperateing ourselves off into safe little chubclubs or and mutual admiration threads has a place but it really needs to be a small one or we will always be excluded from the mainstream. IMHO |

Humor that is self depricateing only advances stereotypes and endorses more pain that it is trying to mask. People who fall into this trap are only trying to find a place to stand even if it is on a shakey foundation. Friends of people in that situation need to reassure them that is not necessary to be accepted and stand up against it. A tall order to be sure. |

I do the same thing...for example..if I walk into a door...I will be the first one to say, "good one dumb*ass"....but I came to this thought process when I realized people talk.....so, if I say something first about my own faults, then people will see that I am comfortable with myself, and that I know I am not a dumb*ass. After a long inward journey, I came to the conclusion that I will be able to make alot of people laugh if I crack the jokes on me first... and I love to make people laugh.. You are welcome, btw...

I am not as big as I used to be. I have lost almost 200 lbs since January. It is not as easy as a lot of people think it is to lose the weight. Sometimes no matter what you do it just won't come off.  Sexy Texy no matter what AWWW PATS
