I'm so irritated by this that I have to make it into it's own thread.

I've seen so many people call Obama an Arab and not black. Not that I give a damn about race. But if you are going to use it as a point of criticism, you need to get your information straight.

I guess a whole lot of people failed Geography if they don't know where Kenya is.

It is an AFRICAN country. While there are many Muslims there, the people are BLACK not ARABIC.

There are Muslim countries in Africa and that does NOT make them Arabs. There are Muslim countries in Asia and that does NOT make them Arabs.

Here is a little info for the geographically challenged.

The Republic of Kenya is a country in East Africa. It is bordered by Ethiopia to the north, Somalia to the northeast, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, and Sudan to the northwest, with the Indian Ocean running along the southeast border. The country is named after Mount Kenya, a very significant landmark and the second among the highest mountain peaks of Africa,[4]

Arabic is a language and a way of life not a sub-race of the human.

Within the Arabic community are many, many diferent peoples and cultures.

the term Arab does not necessarly mean muslim and can include buddists, christians and other religious beliefs...

Being Arabic does not mean someone is the boo-gi-man.

It really bugs me that this is a point of criticism at all. Little Arab-American and Muslim kids across the country are seeing this happen and realizing that they can't be president when they grow up.

Why can't they?

the only limit to being all you can be as an american is the limits you place on yourself...
Not the limits small minds place on others.
Many have overcome.

Many more will in the future we are a GREAT people.

I completely agree. But it annoys me that because Obama's father was a Muslim, people are running around telling each other that means he is an Arab.

Race and religion should not matter in a country that is supposed to be about freedom and equality. It shows just how hypocritical this country really is.

It's for freedom of religion only if you believe one of the various forms of Christianity and for equality only if your skin is pale enough and you look and sound the way people want you too.

Maybe by the time the current generation of kids grows up. Hopefully. In the current climate, there seems to be too much hatred of Muslims and Arabs going around for someone to succeed. All of these attacks against a guy who isn't even Muslim or Arab--what if a person ran for president who actually was? What if an Arab-American, Muslim woman who covered her hair ran for pres? Do you really think she'd
have a chance?

This is a factor for racist people, sorry to bring it up again, but why would it matter and why would it be a stain unless it was something loathsome to these people who keep bringing it up?.

Would proably take more than a few generations for US to grow enough to accept that.

I read somewhere that Barack Obama's father is mostly Arab. Now why is that a problem? It's not for me. I answered someone's question about his race. So I have to get emails and now a thread created about the topic. You assume I'm a racist, because I answered a question? Yeah... Sounds like you are the racists for assuming that other people hate Arabs.
