This thread will probably keep me from winning the "Most whatever Award" on mingle2 but I don't care, I didn't join this site to become the most popular or the most anything.

That being said.....

Can we (including myself) not give the newbies a break? Maybe it's the first time they've ever tried a dating site, or maybe they've tried but the other dating site didn't have the same features,....again whatever.

If the same question gets posted by a newbie that has already been asked a zillion times but they didn't take the time to go thru them...or if what they post makes you want to "puke", can we not just ignore it, or leave it to those who STILL have the patience or the "stomach" to deal with it?

IMO we're sometimes giving a really bad impression of what this site is about to those who haven't been here since the beginning of time!

I agree. I'm guilty of these crime's. I'll be courteous to the newbie's.

I use it to say the wise, stupid, quick witted, crazy, inane,funny, that I didn't get to post last time.

Or I just ignore it.

Oh, MM, please don't misunderstand, it's not those that post funny or witty post, I think those might help the new person to feel more at ease...it's the other kind of comments I was referring to.

It's true -- and it used to be a lot worse. There used to be a clique of staunch old-timers who would vigorously whine any time a newbie asked a question that had been asked before. or if the same joke got posted by two different people within the same week.

I remember making a post saying something along the lines of "There are new people signing up every day, the new people haven't been here to SEE that question asked before, or to read that joke. Every day is somebody's first day here."

And the old codgers would say "I don't like this site anymore, it's not MY site, it's not how it was, it's not the way I want it, too many new people...."

I could never understand this mentality. They had this proprietary attitude, the idea that the site somehow belonged to THEM and them only, and should never change or grow beyond the way it was the day THEY signed up.

What good is a dating site that never gets any new members?

But, to be fair, we have newbies doing the same thing -- there are "newbie cliques" too, and they don't want to deal with anybody they don't know from another site, or from a past life, or whatever.

My attitude is, once I understand that someone is being exclusionary -- screw 'em. I just don't bother with them anymore.

This site is for EVERYBODY, for ALL OF US. People who want to be cliquish, whether oldies or newbies, well, they're saying more about themselves than they're saying about the ones they ignore.

Why do nice guys finish last?
Why do girls date jerks?

Why do guys send emails asking for:

Pic of Boobs?
Sex?
Phone Numbers?

I just don't post most of the time, let the new folks have their fun.

Sometimes it's obvious what the poster is doing and does so just to "stir the pot". Those are fair game as far as I'm concerned. But, we don't always KNOW...give the benefit of the doubt first and then when all doubt is erased...blast 'em. When they're just posting because they need CONSTANT attention...not giving it to them will eventually make them go away anyway.

Over all, IMOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...this site is a step above all the rest..or at least the ones I am FAMILIAR with and I'd hope it would stay that way!

You know it is really sad some of the things I have seen posted on the threads to someone that just joined. The other day matter of fact a thread got pulled due to this same thing. The guy did nothing but ask and honest question. I was appalled at how he was treated. I thought we had adults here but at times I really do wonder.

Having a sense of humor and showing it is one thing but........totally attacking them just because someone has read the type of thread that was posted is uncalled for.

It is not that hard to pass the thread up.

I didn't find in the rules where it says, "Don't ask any questions, we do not believe in education or enlightenment".
