Hey I used to have trouble coping with stress, and I'm not exactly sure
if anyone said anything about it yet... but meditation works like a
charm for me.

Try sitting down in a quiet place or a place without distractions, sit
up straight, cross your legs...and just take a buunch of deep breaths,
but while you're doing this don't think of anything. Everything should
piece together and give you a better thought process afterwards.

I'm not saying you HAVE to do this or anything, but I think it's worth a
try. I meditate for about an hour or two a day... =D

I had to go on pills, I am on Apaxel for stress and Anixety. I find they
worked wonders for me. At first i wouldnt take them I hate pills. But
after i was rushed to the hospital for chest pains and i couldnt breathe
they made me take pills. And they help alot..

I agree with morebass but after you are done and ready to settle in for
the night, put on some light relaxation music, tense your muscles
starting at your shoulders hold it for a few seconds then relaease the
muscles. Work your way down your body one muscle group at a time.
Notice the difference in the way it feels. Helps me a lot. It has taught
me how to recognize when my muscles are getting tense. You can also do
this sitting in a chair etc. Good luck to you

Boil some Sassafras tea. Just get some Sassafras root and cut it in
little pieces. You can add honey and it tastes good. It has a calming
effect.

Sounds like more than just stress, maybe a little anxiety too. If you
don't drink and you don't smoke (which I really wouldn't recommend if
you're having chest pains) then you need to find a healthy way to relax.
As stupid as it sounds, meditation is the best thing. I'm not talking
about playing chanting monks or anything, but something that is soothing
to you. A CD of the sound of the waves on the ocean or a rainstorm and
lightening. If you feel yourself feeling overwhelmed, take a few
minutes, close you eyes and count backwards from ten. Picture the
numbers in your mind, everytime you exhale imagine whatever you feel is
stressing you out floating away like a bubble. And soon it becomes so
far away it just pops. Trust me, this totally works.

Jeff,

I found by going to extremes, I could put things more in perspective.
If a situation is bad, I think how it could be worse. I look for the
worse situation poss. Makes the present seem minor.
Also get some selfhelp books read, make your mind work on something
different. Later come back to what is now a minor problem. Nobody
dying, it is a minor problem.
Also go to a park & walk, get next to nature.

Try it & see what works for you.

I have suffered with a anxiety/panic disorder for over 11 years now. I
went the mdicatiuon route and just recently frred myself from that.
Medication may be good for some but all it did for me was create a
addiction ontop of a problem. So I am now learning to cope with life
"wide open" as well as my disorder and personally God has helped me the
most.

Hay, I hear ya on the stress. It's been one of thoughs weeks for me
too.You need to find some thing you really like to do were you get lost
and forget about every thing.I just sit down and play my piano and hide
in my music and forget the day.I see you like cats.Maybe if there's a
pet store around just go and hang out.All so just going for a walk and
sitting down look'in at what nature has to offer helps.Good luck my
friend and I'm out here if you need someone to talk too.
