The rule of thumb is to never order more than the amount that the person paying spent unless of course they insist on you getting anything you want. First off, that's not my rule of thumb because I'm always a gentleman on a date and let the lady order first. Secondly, of course I would go out with the woman again even if she ordered everything on the left side of the menu. That's given we hit it off initially on the first date. If I got all squirrelly about what my date ordered for dinner due to the price of it, then I had no business asking her out for the evening in the first place. Last, but not least, yes - it is very rude and unbecoming to ask someone "how much can I spend" when you are on a first date. That would more than likely nix your chances for a second date...with me, anyway. I must agree with this even though I'm not a guy. If money is the issue then why did they go to such and expensive restaurant. There are restaurants that do fall within different price ranges. Actually I feel that a first date should be more on a casual side save the more fancier times to 2nd or 3rd dates after you decide whether they may be one you would like to enjoy more time with. But if money is such and issue on what one orders when going out then something is wrong with this picture. Make sure you are honest with yourself on what your limits are and be prepared of what you can and can not do. Women are not only out for how fancy of a place you will take them out to or how much money you can spend on them. If so then you are with the wrong one for sure. If they are really into you they will enjoy the time with you no matter where you go.JMO |
