Are there any stories out there of diets you went on to lose weight, workout regimens.....

There were a couple people who posted on another thread losing over 100 pounds.... thats impressive.

Maybe we can share ideas and give ways to lose weight or stay healthy!

Yes, unfortunately I learned the hard way.
Now instead of using the closest parking spot I use the furthest.
I play daily with my child outdoors and ALWAYS eat 6 small meals a day
I drink a galon of water a day and Instead of driving my child to the bus stop we walk a good 1/4 of a mile. As she gets on the bus I walk back and forth no less than 10 times.

75??

Man, thats 4 women all losing between 75 and 100+ pounds a piece.

Am I the only one amazed by those numbers?

Lily- how did you lose yours? Just the pressures of the divorce, not eating, that type of thing?? or exercise, diet?

Food poisoning. Works wonders. After a few hours of being violently ill, you are afraid to eat for a week.

It isn't fun, but it works in the short term.

Get your wisdom teeth pulled. I lost 10 pounds the first week after that.

But seriously....

Eat 6 or more servings of fruits and veggies a day. With some good protein three times a day.

Fruits and veggies help fill you up, satisfy snacking urges, and the fiber is great for weight loss.

Drink your water. Very important.

And SLEEP. Which I am not doing right now.

Throw in a good walk every day and a bit of hand weights and some abs, you start to lose weight nicely.

Three pounds this week.

I found buying things in smaller serving size packages helps me.

Also try staying out of the resturant. Always too much food.

Find exercise you like; gardening, furniture refinishing, playing and active game, and or even cleaning.

Pick one day a week as dessert day. Preferably a day you are not home where you have a lot of access to get to food.

Put a long mirror in your bathroom. If you see yourself naked it is hard to deny the truth.

Try not to eat to punish others or yourself.

Buy better shoes so your legs don't hurt as bad when you do get and opportunity to exercise.

Don't kid yourself; even if you can't get out of bed you can exercise.

If someone is feeding you garbage wheather it is food or greif it is going to make your booty the size of a dump truck.

Back in 1991, I weighed over 300 pounds ( 319 was the heaviest I got...I think...may have been more ) and I looked in the mirror one day and was absolutely sick at what I saw.

I decided to lose some weight.

Funny thing is, I really didn't change much of anything as far as my diet went. I still ate the things I always ate, but I simply made sure that I ate less of them.

For the last ten years, I have weighed in at right around 200 pounds. Still a bit heavy for my height, but...well..I simply don't care...lol

I still eat what I want to eat. I could probably lose more weight if I cut down on my Mt. Dew intake, but that stuff to me is the same as coffee for a person who drinks that daily.

I will say....what helped with the last 20 pounds or so was having a kidney stone and the ex not allowing me to drink Mt Dew for over a month. Only damn thing she ever did that was good for me....lol

Doctors like the South Beach Diet, a more high protein approach, low carbohydrate. They say it is easier to stay on than the Atkins diet (less rigid) but works well.

Weight Watchers is great for some people.
You just have to find what works for you and stick with it.

I have been losing weight myself, haven't had any sugar since April 10th, trying to stay low fat, and quit drinking all pop, was a heavy Diet Cola drinker, but haven't touched any since, only water now and a rare cup of tea. I miss it, but am sticking with it.

Good luck.

Congratulations to you on your weight loss.

I know how hard it is to do.
My story is almost the same as yours.
With a combination of a pregnancy with twins & a deep depression cause by an abusive boyfriend I weighed approx 430lbs and REALLY looked at myself in the mirror one day and was sickend by myself & decided to do something about it.

I have absolutley nothing against ppl who are heavey I just saw myself dieing FAST the way I looked.

Beings that I have major food issues ( I was bulemic throughout high school... 6 ft tall at 120lbs) I knew if I cut anything out I would obcess over it & eventually give in to a HUGE binge.

So I didn't cut anything out, I just cut it down.

Putting your meals on a smaller plate it a great trick... It really does fool your brain. It sees a full plate no matter the size... It really helps you cut down.

And I started excersizing.... I lost alot of weight ( 80lbs or so) FAST!... hen hit the plateu... Made it through that & lost the rest over the next 2 years. For a total of 240lbs.
This was 15 or 16 years ago that I lost the last of it.

As you can see in my pics I have kept it off.

I have lost 65 lbs since January, it took have a life threatening event to wake me up. I weighed 317 last September, lost 17 between then and January. Then lost the 65 since then, I have not hit a platuea which is normal. My goal is to loose another 35 by the first of the year

I cut out all salt from my diet, stopped eating out, cut down on the soda intake, drank more water and starting walking a mile everyday. Now I walk almost everywhere.
