This very response proves a point that really gets me riled up.

People who say these types of things are obviously not saying it for the edification of the person to whom they are saying it.

Therefor it only leaves others. So are they saying it to show other people that they are better than the person to whom they are speaking?

Are they saying it to convince others of their own piety? Or possibly trying to convince themselves of their own special place in their view of the grand scheme of things?

It reminds me of a college roommate one year who was accused of acting "Holier than thou" when in front of others by another girl in the door. And she flat out said, "Yes, I am holier than you."

I think I must admit that I prefer the Pagan Community. Mainly because I cant recall the last time time I was woken up at 9am on a Saturday morning by a bunch of proselytizing Wiccans.....

Personally, I don't believe in god, of any sort or to any extent. I can't except that religion is based on faith..or some would say fiction :) But I respect peoples beliefs. I actually envy those with faith. I'd like to go to a shinny place when I die lol, but I truly believe it's non existent. Doesn't mean you should insult them, I mean c'mon.. would you really perfer if everyone in the world had the same opinion as you?

Well of course you are correct in that but wouldn't the devoutly religious also have a personal responsibility not to accuse others of going to hell and being "sinners" simply because they dont share their belief system? It seems to me that the humility should extend to both?

i didnt write this to insult chritians, i wrote this for the people who have tried to force their religous beliefs on me,i dont know much about other religions so i chose people who try to force their beliefs on me who worship the god called "I AM" if thats the name he has no name but they know what im talking about.

Sure, if you want to put yourself on the same level as them. I don't see the point in humiliating someone to feel better about yourself or your beliefs. Besides that, from what i've got from every priest,minister,pastor w/e that i've talked to. If someone is in your face calling you a sinner and wishing you to hell and what not, they aren't exactly following their own beliefs.

Well of course. That is what Im saying. How is that putting myself on their level? Im saying its inappropriate behavior and counterproductive for one of these evangelicals to approach a "non-believer" with the sole intent to convert or to proselytize uninvited. If someone is interested in learning more about a particular spirituality, it seems to me that the responsibility should be placed on the individual to find out for themselves. Not have these people coming to the door at 9am Saturday morning or worse yet, tell me Im going to hell. How can they presume to do such a thing? What if I do not believe in nor accept the concept of sin? Its just unreasonable is the point I was making.

also telling an atheist that they will go to hell for not believing in God is also pointless, seeing as since we don't believe in God we more than likely don't believe in hell lol
