Oh cool! So I can still read Salman Rushdie's "Satanic Verses". As long as I can still read that book, I don't care what she bans. you can read it... but 'they' will find you. You have been watching too much of Fahrenheit 451 |

Can't remember the line precisely from the "left wing" movie The American President. Buy in essence it says, "To truly support free speech one must be willing to tolerate listening to some one who says thing totally against what you believe in and hold the most dear."
Kind of a good thought at times like this. When we stop listening to others we run the risk of becoming just like those we disagree with - isolated and closed minded. JMO |

You know.. once again, this is a brilliant and common technique by liberals to put a republican in a dim light shortly before an election.
It's a great accusation, too.. Nobody likes book burning.. especially liberals.. Democrats are worried about loosing support for their candidates, so paint her like she's a radical right-wing ultra-religeous zealot and before anybody can prove the alligations are true or false, the election is nearly over and it's too late to change a lot of people's minds. For anyone who wants to make an intelligent decision.. Find the source of these alligations.. and the evidence that supports it.. from whatever source that you, personally, feel that you can rely on.. whether that's the Internet, the news or friggin Jay Leno.. |

Well considering that the republican policy is always, "we are smarter and more moral than you and know what is best for you so we will decide for you and you will live with it". It would not surprise me in the least that she and many of her cohorts wish to suspend civil rights to read what you want, or speak what you want, or write what you want, etc.....

Book Banning?
http://www.kentucky.com/329/story/515106.html http://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics/AP/story/673855.html http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/story/515512.html http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/stories/2008/09/05/palin_book_banning.html http://www.mcclatchydc.com/homepage/story/51821.html These all basically say the same thing....she asked, librarians refused....a check was made, and no books were taken out of the library...and as far as conversations between Palin and the librarian, witnesses or whatever....no records were found. June Pinell-Stephens, chairwoman of the Alaska Library Association's Intellectual Freedom Committee since 1984, checked her files and came up empty-handed. Basically, it sounds as if Palin asked the librarian if she "WOULD CONSIDER BANNING THE BOOKS," and NOT "BAN THESE BOOKS OR ELSE." Sounds like Palin dropped it when the librarian said "No." So, I wonder.....if this is true, why are we worrying about something that happened 12 years ago? Why is it even an issue? I mean, come on folks...if she went to every library every week, month, year or whatever and demanded that these books be removed; or if she enacted legislation that FORCED these books to be removed, then yes, I would see a HUGE problem with that. BUT the fact of the matter is, she only asked maybe 3 times, was told no, and she dropped it. What gives? |

I think that if the librarian would have agreed it would have been done behind closed doors and none the wiser. Palin being smart enough to know how bad it would look in the press backed off. Thank you little librarian lady for defending our freedoms.

The Democrats are in panic, reactionary, full-on meltdown, mode. They assumed that their attacks and ridiculous lies about Sarah Palin and her 4 month old son's birth would be enough to get her to drop out of the election. Then they turned their attention to her 17 year old daughter, Bristol, being pregnant and not married. They sat back and waited for her speech at the Republican National Convention, all laughing and how they got to her, and she was going to show what a fool McCain was for picking her.
But then..... ....something extraordinary happened. Sarah Palin did NOT get flustered, flummoxed, apologetic, or panicked. She calmly, and assuredly, gave a speech that floored -not only Democrats watching at home- Republicans on the floor of the Xcel Energy Center, and the 55 million people watching at home. She was everything the Democrats WISH they had in a candidate. She was witty. She was charming. She was honest. She was real. She was genuine. She was someone that everyone knows. From the lady in the desk across from you at work, to the mom in the stands cheering her kids on, to the woman hauling a cart full of groceries out to her car. She ignited America in a way that had (has) the Democrats totally taken aback. They did not forsee the storm that they created, the battle that they must now face, and the reality that the easy -No Bush- election they craved is slipping away. The Democrats (those on this site, and elsewhere) will continue their vile, vicious, battle well-past November 23rd. I say let them continue to open their mouths, type on their keyboards, and write with their pens, anything they wish to say. For with each word they utter, each keystroke they type, and each letter they write, the outcome of this election is much less in doubt. |
