Emit,

I really am not trying to be rude. I am not sure what the topic of discussion is.... I think that pretty much most educated people will say that racism is a bad thing. I don't really think it is debateable except for the ignorant and uneducated. So what is there to discuss beyond that?

This is one of those subjects...you are damned if you do and damned if you don't on.

While I agree the discussion might have been more interesting had Emit had posted a simple question I understand why he may have felt it was important to preface it with what he felt were relevant facts and background information from his point of view.

Had he simple said, "How do you feel about racism" or even "Do you think race relations in the United States are better or worse now than in the 1960's" he may have left himself open to all sorts of accusations. Like attempting to start a thread that's potentially abusive or attempting to start a racially based discussion that is not appropriate to these forums.

I think racism is important to discuss and I thank Emit for introducing the subject.

Oh, Emit, thank you for losing the caps lock. It makes your posts much more readable.

I didn't say that they are ineducated and will never say that.

Martin Luther King was educated dark shaded man.
Malcom X and other outstanding men of old were all educated.

You have to explain what u mean by uneducated... is it toward racism or just academically?

I really don't wish to be talking about dark shaded people, i'm quite sure that there were outstanding characters of the upossit shade.

No. Pretty much if you dislike someone based solely upon race then it is either out of ignorance or out of fear. There are good and bad people among all races and lumping together everyone who looks alike is idiotic. It would be tantamount to saying that all blond haired blue eyed people are Nazi's and want to kill the Jews since they were Hitler's Master Race. The argument is flawed because it seeks to encompass all people of similar appearance into a unified group that is obligated by the way they look to think and believe the same thing. Being a racist is simply a way of dismissing an entire group of people without ever actually having to get to know them. So...yes...they are entitled to their view! That is a right guaranteed them in the Constitution. They can even speak out on their beliefs or march in white robes and set fires to crosses to the tune of "Amazing Grace", which incidentally was written by a former slave ship captain who turned into an abolitionist and assisted with getting the slave trade banned in England. Being entitled to your opinion is one thing....having your opinion be correct is another.

Lynann: Thanks much for understanding--- i almost believe that i did the wrong thing by posting this discussion forum.

That is exactly what i am running from, i have learned through teaching customer communication, that, the way you introduce yourself has a lot to do with who people see you as, just make your intrduction simple, clear and friendly.

I would hate for me or any one to ever accuse a specific counrty or state is this discussion, because, this is not what we want here.

We are here to talk and not to call names or to be specific in our comments.

Let's be friendly and ubderstandable.

my view on racism....

anything, and I do mean anything, that pits a nation against itself pits itself against humanity.

In humanity, there ARE MANY VARIABLE DISTINCTIONS GIVEN FOR EXCUSES FOR ACTING WITH LESS THAN REASON, WHICH IS DELIBERATE, IN AND OF ITSELF.

Reason makes way for all and gives place to good, whereas excuses divide and pit man against man in a distraction engendered by strife through deceit.

Were all people alike, there would be no cultural differences born of environmental and defensive need. No excuses.

But we are not all alike and we are all yet the same. By reason.

But every nation must set itself for the defence of it's people.

American is no different in that regard.

But where America is different, is found in reasons for this nation being at all. "That all men are created equal."

All men are created equal, and in America thses words either testify of our sound judgement to mean what we say and say what we mean or disappear from the stage of humainity as a failed notion.

We shall not.

This nation is all peoples.

Alike, all different, and yet, unequal still.

But it is no longer merely a racial divide that must be remembered as a shame and stain due our lack of resolve in our infancy as a nation modeling humane and equitable opportunity and liberty for all citizens.

The divide is greater by reason of redress of grievance and the divisiveness of licencing "passes" for personal responsibility and reasonable accountability for our corporate community and prosperity.

Racism in America is a lesson in civics for the world to learn from us about.

Now we must learn how to overcome the animosity and licentiousness of victimization that institutionalizes romantic notions about the past which dare to torment any of this people that have fought and struggled and wrestled with racism and have overcome it's deceitful ill will only to be charged with the culpability for its forbearance by the greedy and self serving among us. That is DONE!

In other words, racism is dead in America and all that remains is the stench of it's legacy among the ignorant few, not the whole , and certainly not the best and brightest of this nation which always call tomorrow forward upon all.

peace, out.

Until the philosophy which hold one race superior
And another
Inferior
Is finally
And permanently
Discredited
And abandoned -
Everywhere is war -
Me say war.

That until there no longer
First class and second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a mans skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes -
Me say war.

That until the basic human rights
Are equally guaranteed to all,
Without regard to race -
Dis a war.

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace,
World citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued,
But never attained -
Now everywhere is war - war.

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
That hold our brothers in angola,
In mozambique,
South africa
Sub-human bondage
Have been toppled,
Utterly destroyed -
Well, everywhere is war -
Me say war.

War in the east,
War in the west,
War up north,
War down south -
War - war -
Rumours of war.
And until that day,
The african continent
Will not know peace,
We africans will fight - we find it necessary -
And we know we shall win
As we are confident
In the victory

Of good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah!
Good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah!
Good over evil -
Good over evil, yeah

This was a speech by the Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia and turned into a song writtin by Allen Cole and Carlton 'Carly' Barrett and turned into a hit for Bob Marley, It is such a blue print for a wonderfull society.

The Color of a mans skin is of no more significant than is the color of his eyes!!

Im going to disagree with you here. I dont believe that racism=fear based ignorance. I think it's hatred pure and simple. It's inbred, it's environmental and it's a self defeating and horrific trait in anybody that harbors it. I think it's a weapon wielded that there is little to no defense for other than epiphany of a heart and mind.

Valid point taken...but, let's peel this onion a layer deeper, shall we?

You state that you feel it is "inbred"...and I agree, which then it falls upon "ignorance" in my humble opinion. Many folks confuse ignorance with stupidity, which is completely incorrect. Ignorance is simply lack of full KNOWLEDGE, whereas stupidity is possessing knowledge and still choosing to remain ignornant.

If one is "inbred" and only exposed to one way of thinking...most assuredly "fear" will be instilled.

There again, many folks confuse the meaning of FEAR. Fear can instill many emotions...including "hatred": "I'll get YOU before you GET me"...etc. Dare I say, "fear" is often confused with the explosive emotion we often call "anger" as well. ohwell

This above reasoning is precisely why I ask anyone I'm intimately close to that expresses a vehement explosion even closely related to racisim: "WHAT are you so AFRAID of?" *scratches head*

We are ALL "racist" and "judgmental" in some form or fashion. Let's get honest here, shall we? Yes, partly inbred and some measureably chosen due to our school book learning or school house/life experiences...it is CHOICE! So, please, OWN it, express it openly, and learn from it. It is what we call HUMAN conditioning!

It's really OKAY to be human, yanno?

Actually the iconic image of the KKK was used to illustrate the point that all are entitled to their opinion and simultaneously point out their ignorance. They really do burn crosses to Amazing Grace. It really was written by an reformed slave ship captain who really was an abolitionist. Minister Farakkahn is no more correct in his views. Neither were the Nazi's, or the Somali's, or any other group that has attempted genocide or practiced hatred as a way of life or a core belief system.

Yes my opinion is the correct one because as some much more eloquent than I on here put forth. Reason only allows for one decision on this topic.

Fear of that which is different or alien from what you know or what you have experience with. It is hard to hate a person you have taken the time to get to know.

Any other questions?

By the way. CAN I ASSUME YOU ARE SIMPLY PLAYING DEVILS ADVOCATE?

What is Nationalism?

Introduction to Nationalism
By Arthur E. LeBouthillier

We hear much about nationalism in the news and even from some in the White movement. Usually, nationalism is maligned as a bad thing leading to disintegration and mass violence. To the media, it is the stability-threatening force that causes governments to fall. To those in the White movement, it is the force that causes White brothers to fight each other. However, a better understanding of nationalism is necessary to appreciate its true role in world politics and how it relates to our own movement.
There are many myths about what nationalism is. For many, nationalism only evidences itself as warfare between ethnic groups or as the force that destabilizes multi-ethnic countries.

However, this view misses a much more important fact about nationalism: that it is something that affects people’s everyday actions in many positive ways while never causing them to engage in acts of violence. Another myth about nationalism is that it is something fundamentally different from racism. In fact, the basis of nationalism can be one or more of several influences such as religion, race, language or other factors.

Nationalism Nationalism is a complex phenomenon that is not always immediately easy to grasp. It is a whole ideological viewpoint that affects all aspects of one’s every day political, cultural, economic and social life. As Anthony D. Smith defines it in Nationalism in the Twentieth Century, it is “…the ideological movement for the attainment and maintenance of autonomy, cohesion, and individuality for a social group, some of whose members conceive it to be an actual or potential nation.”

In accordance with this definition, it can be seen that virtually any activity taken on behalf of the nation (a social group) could be considered a “nationalistic act.” Such things as writing poetry to spread the ideals of the nation, learning the historical dances of that nation, speaking in the historical language of that people, or engaging in politics on behalf of the nation’s interests are all “nationalistic acts.” In extreme cases, nationalism does evidence itself as ethnic warfare when two or more ethnic groups compete at the expense of each other’s interests. According to John Breuilly in Nationalism and the State:
A nationalist argument is a political doctrine built upon three basic assertions:

There exists a nation with an explicit and peculiar character

The interests and values of this nation take priority over all other interests and values.
The nation must be as independent as possible.

This usually requires at least attainment of political sovereignty. [Breuilly, 1982. p 3]

In accordance with the above definitions, one can see that our own movement to ensure the survival of the White race is a nationalist movement. This is even more strikingly evident when one considers Aryan Nation’s own slogan: “Your race is your nation.” This slogan is an obvious statement linking racial and nationalistic arguments and ideals.

I think I have fairly well acknowledged that individuals are entitled to their beliefs. It is simply a CERTAINTY that racism is an ignorant belief system. Explain to me how Racism is right or correct thinking. Explain how it is not ignorant.

p.s. ignorance is not defined as stupidity.
