actually, it's our perception of time that changes- instead of thinking in minutes in our childhoods, we start to think in hours, years, decades and centuries which inevitably compresses our perception time all together. in the end, seconds and minutes stop feeling like large periods of time, while decades START feeling like smaller periods of time.

Twenty years ago, I could not count the days of my life left to live. Burdened with the present hurry and scurry, and trying to shake off the past, looking ahead was annoying. Ahead lay years of more of the same.
Ahead of me now, I see a short line to the door of eternity. It is to me the same as driving a car along, whizzing thru life...and seeing now a STOP sign at the end of mortality. A brief hesitation, and then I thrust my foot down upon the accelerator. Not to accomplish more in the time remaining, but to gain daredevil speed and to refuse the last command upon me from outside. I shall not go into the great abyss with a whimper and a backward glance, but to use up these last years with joyous abandon!! YEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! |

Yes time goes by so quickly the older I get it seems the more time I am losing....i'll think its Monday when its actually already Thursday.
Things seemed to go by so slowly when I was young but maybe it's only because I had nothing to do and no responsibilities. |
