laugh Some Christian mother she islaugh

I think this is a good example of a Christian "walking the talk" and should be admired, not criticized.

Well this is about Bristol's choices more than her mother's but yes Sarah is apparently practicing what she preaches.
What I question is this, Why put her daughter in the spotlight at this difficult time? A truly loving mother would not have accepted the nomination. She's sacrificing her child's emotional well being. Sarah Palin is young enough to have more chances to run for higher office. Being the governor's daughter & pregnant was bad enough, but this will be insanity for poor Bristol.
What were John McCain & Sarah Palin thinking? I said it would be an interesting fall.

Really how crazy is it that this 17yo is pregnant and these Christan people aren't outraged. as long as she keeps it pre-marital teenage sex and shotgun weddings are okay???

WTF???

this just shows you that partisanship is stronger than religion.

James Dobson of Focus on the Family has issued a very compassionate statement supporting Gov. Palin:

"Being a Christian does not mean you're perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord. I've been the beneficiary of that forgiveness and restoration in my own life countless times, as I'm sure the Palins have. The media are already trying to spin this as evidence Gov. Palin is a 'hypocrite,' but all it really means is that she and her family are human."

I wonder what he would have said if Palin had a (D) next to her name?

For the record, I am not Christian. Teen pregancy is a serious problem, but its one that dosn't recognize parental political affiliations. I am outraged that this poor girl is being tossed to into the political storm as a sacrifice.

i would agree with you if not for the fact that Gov Palin is trying to prove to the country that her values are stronger than that of her opponents. well her values couldnt keep her 17yos legs crossed.

i think teen pregnancy is a problem ad we should be teaching our kids about condoms. Bristol Palin obviously didn't get that message.

No one can stop teen hormones & rebellion. Kids need education & attention, no matter thier parents religion or party. Yes they need contraception available & the knowledge to use it.

The most famous teenage mother? Mary. Funny how religion spun that one.

who is shocked by teenage pregnancy? even if its the presidents daughter??
the youth of today is_________.
words cannot even express my worry for the youth of today.

her mom is a workaholic (just guessing) and going to church does not make the boys stop chasing girls.

I just am almost glad that this hit the news. perhaps it can make a difference to other young girls, who knows?? at least bristol palin's family is standing behind her.

Does this change the fact that governor palin would make a difference in our office??
shes obviously not a perfect person, she doesnt hide her dirt. It makes her a real person to me, more than another politician.

I can relate to how she feels, sorta

I think Sarah Palin is a clever, but cynical pick by McCain. Clever in that any criticism of her PTA experience will draw legitimate comparisons to Obama's inexperience, and her positions mirror D!ck Cheney so the extreme right (like some here) will "love" her.

It's also a cynical, pandering pick to grab disillusioned female Hillary Clinton voters. It's pandering because from a practical (votes) perspective, it's the primary reason for selecting her, and it's cynical for McBush to assume these voters will switch simply because Sarah Palin lacks a Y chromosome.

Yes well I'm sure DEMS know about pandering since they do it so well. I think the cynicism is not coming from McCain but those who think this way...always figuring angles. That's really the way DEMS think. No wonder you are so cynical.

The point is we do think.

No...you complain...that's all.

from a press release...

A statement released by the campaign said that Bristol Palin will keep her baby and marry the child's father. Bristol Palin is five months pregnant, and the baby is due in late December.

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents," Sarah and Todd Palin said in the brief statement.

"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family," they added.

This is what family VALUES are all about. Not abortion run amok.

You'd be spouting venom if this was a Democrat's family.

No...actually I would be very happy to see DEMS show some family values. What I would frown on is when they don't stand by those values.

Why be ashamed of what you believe in, would be my question ????

For one there's no covering up what is going on in her family. While the media is constantly covering up for DEMS.

Second, they are standing not only behind their daughter but their principles. She stands behind her children even in tough situations. That would happen regardless of her run or not.

Mostly though, from what I've seen she is a REAL person. I like her alot. she is one of us.

I have said before and I will repeat again, I think people's families are off limits, People's children are especially off limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories.

-Barack Obama

i respect that. However, i'm not Barack. i think it is a valid issue when Palin is touting her family values as if they are somehow better than any Democrat or American in general.

My best friend is a preachers kid. He has one sister and two brothers and they all managed to make it past the age of 17 without having a child and then having a shotgun wedding.

As far as i am concerned this exposes a problem with the Republican party and the number one reason i wont vote for McCain/Palin. The fact that McCain's slogan is Country First as if the Democrats put country second. The fact that Repubs are so venomous against gay Americans and then turn out to be tapping their feet in airport bathroom stalls and being gay themselves. All their holier than thou social agenda trying to legislate peoples freedom and limit the pursuit of happiness is simply UNAMERICAN.
