The classic answer to that is that god created time, so "before" and "after" do not apply to him.

"skyhook" if time didn't apply to God then he would have no reason to have rested on the seventh day

God didn't rest of the seventh day, God "shabath" (ceased) his work. In other words, God stopped creating on the seventh day.

God is eternal, so there is no "before God".

eternal stop being eternal once you reach the end

eternal

Being without beginning or end; existing outside of time.

sorry "Spidercmb" but the bible states that God rested on the seventh day ... that a God needs to rest proves that God is controlled by time ..either God had to rest or the bible is inaccurate...take your pick

as for eternal ..like "infinity" both are terms used to describe the possible vastness of an reality but doesn't mean that the reality is actually eternal or infinite

Funchies,

What I posted about God resting is 100% correct. You are certainly welcome to look up the verse and look at the original meaning of the word which was translated as "rested". I can only lead you to water, I cannot make you drink.

Your arguments against "eternal" is without merit. You can choose to believe or ignore the Bibles statement's on God's nature, but it is without question that the God of Abraham is eternal in nature. You can quibble if something can be eternal, but if you want to discuss the Bible, there is no question that the Bible presents God as being eternal.

"SpiderCmb" ..it is you that are denying the bible and wish to pick and choose which words in the bible are accurate ..if the Bible states that God rested on the seventh day then you have to believe that without question ..it's that simple

it's strange that I'm defending the bible accuracy as you deny it .. where have your faith gone my child

if indeed god created the earth and rested on the seveneth day, this would only say "earth" was as finished by the end of the sixth day, and no longer wwas there any requirerment of "creating" needed for the earth, not at all saying there was rest in all other aspects of "god" or wisdom......

if indeed text is as prophecy, then each word has multiple meanings, and each of these other meanings is as spoken by all, but heard as different meanings, but rather all have a fragment of the whole truth as given before arrival to earth as a child, for expereince to be gathered, to bring and allow this fragment each hold to come to be completely understood, not held and seen as superiority, or as some acquried self wisdom, but coming from within each being, each living thru pain and fear and turmoil, likewise goodness and kindness the same, to grow this fragment held by each, and then a vision of how the connecting with all other fragments is had, allowing the putting together of all fragments, by gathering the fragments of truth from each as gifts of wisdom, leaving the whole truth built and put together each day the more one hear it's neighbor as equal, and worthy to be heard, and knowing there is wisdom in the words, but what are they, not seeing just ignorance as all have if not all wise, then the whole truth coming soon to be laid in plain site for all to see when completeded.......

in other words, the world was created with a fool proof system that brings all mankind to peace and wisdom, over a period of time of generations, by giving each a fragment of truth, making a need for all to come see each other with equal importance, and all words as equal truth first, for the answer of ones own truths to be answered, and if this be true, the whole picture of all that is wondered and thought is seen, and what lack of ALL peace can exist that come with all answers.....

Wouldn't it be safe to say that all knowledge, all the sciences evolved from the "first" science of physics with the big bang being the catalyst. Physics being the foundation of all the other sciences and sciences are the results or conditions permitted by physics.

But then again not all knowledge is science. Know who is Paris Hilton dating is knowledge but it is not a all a science. Mythology, for example, is knowledge but it is not a science: it is man's first attempt at science and philosophy. Knowledge seems to include at worst irrational thoughts or at best creative ideas, AND science.

the knowledge of science and/or physics couldn't come into existence without the prior knowledge that formed it into existence ..the catalyst that supposely caused the big band theory needed another existence of knowledge to become a catalyst

..in other words nothing can come into existence without being handed the knowledge to form it into existence
