put him in a time out, or take away something (a toy) that means the world to him. Good Luck

Keep explaining that you don't allow hitting and name calling. Make him understand that it hurts your feelings, ask him how helikes it when people call him names or hit him. I know this sounds like a guilt trip but it work on my son when he was 9

If he hits you say three times then put him in the naughty corner, naughty step or naughty thinking pond (use your imagination)for three minutes. Tell him exactly what he has done and make him stay there. Afterwards give him a cuddle ask him to apologise and tell him he hurt your feelings.

Ty spending "mummy and son" time with him for half an hour every day to prvent him doing it again.

Well, I was going to talk him to his favorite place today before school starts, but now I feel if I do...then I have just lost the battle. My feelings are sooooo hurt...

I used to make the best of that when I was bad......all my cool stuff is in there!!!!

Time out or stash in a room is only good BEFORE a boy gets to the point you're talking about.....

But is his room punishment or does he have lots of toys and tv etc there.
I agree with taking things away from them and when they are good enough they get them back. but u keep taking them away for each nasty thing he does wrong. flowerforyou

Tell him if he sits there you will take him out and if he doesn't then you wont. If he does as you say then take him as agreed if he doesn't don't. Simple. Then next time you ask him to sit on the thinking pond, naughty step or whatever he will more than likely do as you ask because he knows he either gets affection or misses out.

If you take him out tell him its mummy time.

Be firm. Dont tell him nicely when you tell him to stop. Make him actually listen when he is talking to you or has calmed down. Otherwise he just wont take it in

7 yrs old, gets seven minutes in the corner, face to the wall, and no talking please.
After its over, explain that the behaviour is not acceptable.
Worked for me.

Taking material items away is also good but I might had make him have to earn them back with his good behavior.

I believe hitting doesn't solve anything

Consistency is key. Establish rules and hold him to it. My son tries this with me, this morning he got grounded for the night for talking back.

You have to love him enough to be firm, spoiling him teaches him nothing. Oh no, wait... it does. It teaches him that you will reward him for bad behavior because you feel guilty.

I've been where you are, and my words are not meant to be harsh.... just how it is.

Kids need rules, boundaries, and CONSISTENT outcomes every time to feel safe and secure. Oh and hitting him when he is bad teaches him hitting is okay.... really it does.
