The easiest thing to do, is simply follow the rules.

About suspensions, these can come without warnings. Every mod action is logged, and time stamped. Every thread moved, every post edited or deleted, every warning sent, etc. are in this log. Two reasons for that, one, that no one is suspended without reason, and two, to keep the mods honest.

FORUM RULES

1) Do not attack/slam/insult others. You can discuss the message or topic, but not the messenger - NO EXCEPTIONS. If you are attacked by another user, and you reciprocate, YOU will also be subject to the same consequences. Defending yourself, defending a friend, etc. are NOT excuses. Violations of this rule are taken very seriously and may result in being banned without warning!

The last sentence in the first forum rule. We would rather avoid any suspensions. That is the reason for the warnings. They are not meant to belittle anyone, just to let the member know that they are in violation.

In closing, these warnings are sent privately, as not to embarrass the member on the boards.

If my understanding is right... a warning at ANY time is grounds for getting into trouble with an additional warning later.

That is, if you were warned once that stands forever, wether it be in a thread or in a mail.

That way, if you are later suspended it does not matter if you did not get a mail, as you were previously warned. It only seems that way to some possibly?

Am I right in this interpretation?

Yes you are right but actually according to the rules no warnings have to be sent at times it is based on the severity of the actions one took upon the threads to another.

Actually according to the Site Rules you can be banned without any prior warnings if you go against the Site Rules.

But......in reality the Site Admin actually tries very hard not to out right ban members. They feel that they should give them every chance they can. Therefore they put in the Mod System with all actions logged in order for them to have a record of each action taken against that member. Most members are given many chances before they get suspended. But if they were supsended in the past for basically the same thing then they have ran out of free spaces and go directly to jail with no get out of jail card. They will be sent and e-mail at the time to let them know of the actions taken.

Having been a moderator on a couple of other forums, one thing I can say for sure is that there is absolutely no way that you can please everyone.

No matter how well the rules are set up, there will always be those who don't read them the way they were written.

There are also those who will say that a mod will erase something from one person, while something more offending from someone else will remain because of a mod's friends. The problem I see with that reasoning is that not all of the mods are friends with the same people. Even if one mod were to let something that has been reported go, there is another mod there that may, indeed, delete it for being offensive. That is the reasoning behind having more than one moderator.

Another thing that I know for certain, as evidenced by this thread, is that being a moderator on ANY site is a thankless job. No matter how hard you try to be fair and balanced in your actions, there are those who are going to cry foul when they don't agree.

Ladies and gentlemen, moderators have a difficult job. It's also a voluntary ( as far as I know ) job. They put in time as moderators not for any kind of glory, or for pay, but because they want to make this a friendly place to hang out and talk to friends.

That being said, they are human. Mistakes can, and probably have been, made. The best we can do is accept the fact that they ARE human and forgive them for mistakes.

Trust me when I tell you, it's much better to have a few human moderators than it is to have an automatic moderation system that looks for certain keywords in a post and removes those posts. I have dealt with one of those systems, and if you think there are problems now....those systems create nothing but chaos.

Personally, I can say I've disagreed with things that happened. But, I can also say that my reports are handled seriously and immediately. I am treated fairly, both with being listened to and being scolded when I needed it.

Honestly I could not have said it any better and agree with it whole hearted.

buttons To answer your question on your end no it does not but then it is posted in your history. But when you are getting a e-mail from a Mod just so you will know we must mark it as a warning on our end. That way if that person actually talks to you in e-mail as friends only the warning ones are marked and in your history.
