Ignoring the other b.s. on the thread to say this; I am pretty sick of hearing that citizens of the U.S. are bigots and racists. Americans don't own racism or bigotry. We are no more or less ethnocentric than people in any other country. It only takes a quick look around to see that sort of attitude all over the world. Slavery...it's happening all over the world today. Right now, when you go to sleep tonight there are people being enslaved. Prejudice...well...examine your own attitude and look at conflicts all over the world. Religious and ethnic intolerance...Baghdad, Georgia, Ireland, France, China... We, United States citizens, are made up of people or their decedents (unless you are native American) who came here hoping for a better life. We are a people who should be stronger for our unique qualities, who share a common goal of independence, religious freedom and a true appreciation for the opportunity this country offers each of us despite our political affiliation. Despite the troubles here I still hope for something better. I still work for something better. I am not justifying any asses attitudes who posted here but I will say this and I will say it with attitude. If I didn't I would be unworthy of my citizenship. As flawed as the country is I am still proud to be a citizen. |

I come from and now live again, in one of the most racist countries in Latin America..we are a people made up of Spanish, Italian, English and French decent...we harbored Nazis after the war, annhialated the native population...the list goes on and on...but we dont PRETEND to be anything other than what we are...and despite the racism that exists, people here get along far better than in the States..we co-habitate and live in harmony...we dont have "race wars" like you do in the States, no one worries about being politically correct because we know its the musings of hypocrasy...
I spent most of my life in the US..have friends of every ethnicity..I am "white" and know all about the priviledges my skin color afforded me..far more than my darker "American born" friends.. I stand by what I said...and have no remorse or regrets concerning my statement..If you were honest with yourselves you might consider what Im saying and reflect on the futility and hipocrasy of "Political Correctness" as the OP demonstrated.. |

As I recall, didn't your little 3rd world country attack the falkland Islands in 1982, you have no right to critize the US when your country has done the same. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982_invasion_of_the_Falkland_Islands The Malvinas are colonized by British, yep we went to war to get back what is rightfully ours (we didnt invade a soverign country and hang its leader, if that is what you are referring to)... by the way..we were using ships that the US sold us (you do know, USA is a British ally?)..youll sell out anyone for a dollar wont you? as for being a "3rd wold country", ...the only thing keeping American baby boomers (looking to strech their social security a little further)from moving here are our immigration laws and the language...you should see them pouring out of planes and cruise ships.... |

Beacon of Freedom
Take a look at what has been... when other countries have achieved, with power supreme, spreading their reach beyond their shores to conquer, annex, and dominate a land not their own, bringing foreign rule to another nation’s home. Even history calls many great empires with some bringing civilization to those enslaved, who still did eventually rise up to repel. Yet, it cannot be said of America... Born out of freedom to practice one's belief without oppression, growing and maturing with a citizenship so diverse, America has always stood tall, answering the call, using might to protect Her own and defend others when in need. Bravely have our young women and men given their all, with so many staining a foreign land red, their collective, valiant efforts easily seen, and possibly nothing more satisfying than the children being able to sleep safely in bed... then leaving once the enemy dares not to tread. And while others might say differently, they do so falsely for their own gain, ignoring the simple proof of history that shows what could have been, if our great nation had chosen a different course. It makes one give thanks for the Divine Hand, Who has guided America to Her destiny... a Beacon of Freedom, shinning brightly even in the darkest of times! By David G. Bancroft |

Please keep it civil everyone, no need for insults. Thanks <<< Thank You once again for < Stepping In >>> It's been getting really bad around here with the " extremely uncalled for " relentless bitter attitude & verbal attacks, blatant disrespect & hatred for other people from "some" of the members toward some of the others |
